Application to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin for Approval of Optional Bring Your Own
Device Demand Response Program
The Commission discussed the staff recommendation to petition the Public Service Commission (PSC) to
approve a program that would allow WPPI, or its contractor, to be able to control thermostats of residential and
small commercial customers during certain times of the year. This voluntary program attempts to try to reduce
demand when energy prices are typically most expensive. Customers would be paid a small amount to
participate in this program.
After a discussion, a motion was made by Steve Kraus and seconded by Joe Zitzelsberger to approve filing the
application with the PSC to approve the program. Motion carried.
Village-Wide Construction Projects
The Commission was provided information regarding various projects planned in the service territory.
Operations Report
The Commission was provided information about various operational matters including water sampling to be
done at Well 2.
Update on Well 6 and Water Tower Project
Staff presented the engineering drawings for the well building.
The Commission was also provided information about the recent Plan Commission and Joint Plan Commission
approval for the new tower, a recent meeting with the tower contractor, and an update on the overall schedule.
General Manager’s Report
The General Manager provided information about the status of the applications to increase electric and water
rates, planning that is underway to celebrate the 110 year anniversary of the Utility, the recruitment for a new
lead line worker, and the preliminary estimate received from MMSD regarding the overall rate increase
anticipated for 2026.
Financial Statements
The July financial information was presented.
A motion was made by Kristin Runge and seconded by Roxanne Johnson to adjourn the meeting. Motion
carried.
