VILLAGE OF WAUNAKEE PUBLIC WORKS MEETING 500 West Main Street September 4, 2025 5:30 PM Meeting Minutes CALL TO ORDER Nila Frye called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm. ROLL CALL Present: Nila Frye, Sam Kaufmann, Max Ujdak, Ron Plumer, Erin Moran, Mark Snider Absent: Brian Wallace Also Present: Bill Frederick, Aaron Jahncke, Ryan Endres, Jeff Witt, Kurt Acker and Jeff Karls MINUTES 1 Minutes from May 8, 2025 Motion by Ron Plumer, second by Sam Kaufmann to approve May 8, 2025 minutes as presented. Motion carried. 5-0 (Erin Moran Absent). PUBLIC COMMENT None BUSINESS ITEMS 1 Discussion about intersection of Simon Crestway and Peacefull Valley Parkway Aaron Jahncke presented the intersection and the reason behind the concerns for safety. There was a discussion amongst the committee members to have this considered in future projects by the Plan Commission. No action taken. 2 Discussion and Action on the preliminary plans and 2nd phase proposal for the DPW Facility Remodel Discussion on the proposed expansion to maximize the use of the facility to accommodate future growth in service needs for the next 20 years. Nila Frye inquired about sustainable solutions to achieve the Village’s overall mission of sustainability. Motion by Erin Moran, second by Nila Frye to approve and forward onto the Village Board for final approval. Motion passed. 6-0 3 Discuss and approve WISDOT’s request to work 2 evenings next spring for the STH 19 project Wisconsin DOT will notify residents on the block of the road closure. Motion by Ron Plumer, second by Max Ujdak to approve the WisDOT’s request for overnight work. Motion passed. 6-0 4 Discuss and approve the 2026-2030 capital improvement list Motion by Nila Frye, second by Ron Plumer to approve 2026-2030 capital improvement list to the Village for final approval during the 2026 budget process. Motion passed. 6-0 5 Discuss pedestrian counts at Fairview and N. Century Ave Aaron Jahncke reported that the 14 for the peak hours RFP study didn’t meet the pedestrian counts to allow for an RFP to be installed. He reported the improvement that was made is with the painted continental sidewalks. 6 Discuss painting centerlines on paths throughout the Village Nila Frye reported that the Sustainable Waunakee Committee requested painted sidewalk lines. Bill reported that these would be skip lines This would take 3-4 weeks of continual work for two people to paint the current paths in the Village. Nila Frye announced the Sustainable Waunakee Committee viewed this request as a safety education initiative over a cost of labor concern. The consensus of the committee is that it’s an educational opportunity. No action was taken.
