Chief’s Report
We brought on two new part-time employees in September and have one more starting in
October, along with one new volunteer that will be starting in October as well. The Full-Time
position starting in January will be posted this week with interviews in November and
December.
The new ambulance had some programming things that needed to be taken care of, pushing
our ability to put it in service. We had the State inspection yesterday finally and everything
looked good aside from having to add a couple of vinyl pieces and getting the flash pattern
adjusted on the emergency lights. We are working through driver training on it now and are
hopeful to be able to get it in service fairly soon. I am still hoping to have that “push in”
ceremony and will keep you all informed prior to it so you can attend if you’d like.
The new phone system is working well. We will start to realize the financial savings starting in
October.
Thank you to the clerks from the municipalities for getting the Act 102 paperwork back to me.
This has all been submitted. Historically we see the funding come through 3-4 months after
submission, so it should be around the beginning of the calendar year. Last year we saw a large
increase in funding, receiving $89k. It sounds like the state is providing the same level of
funding for this year. Our numbers will all depend on how many departments apply for it this
year.
Chiefs from Dane County and Dane County EMS are working on updating the Dane County EMS
IGA. This IGA mainly governs mutual aid, auto ALS, and similar operational concepts. If for
some reason it goes beyond operational, I’ll bring it to this group and probably have to reach
out to our attorney to make sure everything is good with him. I’ll have more on this as the end
of the year nears.
