Discussion and potential planning for 2024 candidate forum for 23-1254 Alderperson and Mayor Presented by Deputy City Administrator Melissa Weiss. The motion included the following criteria: 1. The Candidate forum will be moderated by the Wauwatosa West Allis Chamber of Commerce . 2. The moderator will provide a 15 second warning signal to the candidate in a way that does not interrupt their answer, such as holding up a sign. 3. Each Alderperson, except those seeking the office of Mayor, will submit two questions . The topics of the questions shall focus on the areas of responsibility of each of the four Common Council standing Committees. Each Alderperson submitting questions shall identify the topic area of the questions they submit. 4. Each Alderperson who is unopposed will have an opportunity to present or surrender their time to the Mayoral race for additional questions. Any Alderperson choosing not to cede their time will be allowed to give a 2 minute statement. 5. All candidates should remain after the forum for questions from voters . 6. For the Mayoral portion of the forum, each candidate shall answer eight questions, two from each Page 1 of 2 Government Affairs Committee Meeting Minutes February 13, 2024 category. The candidates shall have two minutes to answer each question . There will be a coin toss to determine which candidate answers the first question first. The candidate answering the first question first will then answer the next question second and vice versa throughout the question period . Candidates will answer the same questions. Application for appointment of successor Agent, Dianne Heuvelmans, 24-0187 for Tosa Hotel, LLC d/b/a Residence Inn by Marriott Milwaukee West, 1300 Discovery Parkway Presented by City Clerk Steven Braatz. Staff updates regarding current legislative items of interest to the City of 24-0193 Wauwatosa Presented by City Attorney Alan Kesner. Atty Kesner noted that the State Legislature passed new legislative maps and it is on the way to the Governor for his signature .
