Consideration of application for Fireworks User Permit by Padi Kong, 24-0869 Wauwatosa School District, for the property address located at 11400 W. Center Street, Wauwatosa West High School football field, for Tosa West homecoming fireworks show on October 4, 2024 from 9:15 PM - 9:45 PM Presentation by City Clerk Steve Braatz and applicant Padi Kong . Motion included an exception to the City ordinance allowing salutes. Motion by Ald Moldenhauer, seconded by Ald Phillips, to deny the application for the following reasons: 1. Wauwatosa has, in the past, traditionally discouraged and denied alcohol license application for sale at establishments which also dispense gasoline, due to the association between gasoline sales and the dangers of alcohol consumption in the context of driving vehicles on public roadways . 2. The location has a small lot size, and is located at a busy intersection, which would become even more crowded and congested if traffic were to increase due to packaged beer sales at the convenience store . 3. There are multiple sources for the purchase of packaged beer and other liquor products within a very short distance from the location for which sales are requested (approximately 6 other Class " A" or Class "B" licensed establishments within two blocks of the location). Motion failed 3-4 (Arney, Franzen, Lowe, and Makhlouf voted no). Sandy Zellmer, 2472 N. 65th St. - Asked some questions. Indy Stluka, 746 N. 112th St. - Asked to hold the item. Motion included an amendment to the proposed ordinance changing "may" to "shall" throughout the ordinance.
