Operational Updates 1. Proactive incidents related to crime 25-0468 · Capt. Gierach, 2 others moved to new bureaus · 3/11/25: Threats to Kingdom Prep. Patrol, SRO’s, Detective Bureau collaborated to identify and arrest the suspect before the end of the school day · 2/28/25: Weapons offense arrest at Homewood Suites. Hiring update 25-0469 · As of 3/15/25: o 98 sworn, 2 vacancies o 4 laterals in progress o 3 academy hires in progress o Applications for academy opened in 3/17/25 RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 2. Sergeant process update - named candidate 25-0478 RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY Administrative Updates 1. 2026 budget process 25-0470 · Has started, budget restrictions continue to be a challenge · Have “big ticket” items to pursue with City: o WPOA contract expires 12/31/25 o Replacing a K9 o Technology subscriptions RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 2. Special event preparation 25-0479 · Declared 5 large city events a public safety priority in order to properly set up Command and Staffing, is an industry best practice · This will require mandatory ordering of certain personnel o July 4th parade & drone/fireworks show o Tosa Night Out o Tosa Fest o Holiday Train RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY REPORT OF THE FIRE CHIEF James Case, Fire Chief, presented. Significant incidents 25-0472 · House fire - 9800 block of Grantosa Drive. Kitchen fire, no one home, dog didn’t survive RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 3. Shared services 25-0473 · West Allis Consolidation discussions, study approved by both Common Councils RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY Administrative Updates 1. Personnel actions (retirements/resignations/promotions) 25-0474 · 2 resignations (Gonzales/Timm) · 2 members offered, then declined (One to Appleton, One to MFD) · 1 retirement (A/C Erke) · We will be holding a LT process later this year RESULT: INFORMATIONAL ONLY 2. Deputy Fire Chief - training appointment approval 25-0475 · 15 applications (14 external/1 internal) · Interviews held 2/18 (3 external/1 internal) · Offered to external candidate, initially accepted then declined · Offered to internal candidate; LT. Travis Padgett who has accepted. First day 3/24/25 o 10 years on the department, experience with Racine and WCTC instructor o Associates from MATC, Bachelor’s from UW-Oshkosh RESULT: APPROVED MOVER: Victor Plantinga SECONDER: Phillip Morris 3.
