3. Review and Approve March 2023 Minutes
Approval of March 2023 Minutes
Motion by Scott Groesch Second by Centron Felder
All Members voted in the affirmative with spelling correction to Jill’s last name
4. Update Report from WGPD
Chief Curtis advised gave a presentation covering department policies including staffing levels, the 8 pillars of
use of force, CALEA certification, the AG disparity report, and CIT training. He additionally presented video to
the board of dangerous stops. He answered questions of the board regarding CIT and social workers within
police departments.
5. Purpose Exercise
The board participated in a purpose exercise to create word clouds to help them more clearly define a
new purpose statement. They reviewed elements of good purpose statements. They will attempt to
rewrite the purpose outside of the meeting.
6. Updates on DEI and Lanyards
No update on DEI
Lanyards are being printed
7. Topic leader signups
a. May – police training, Dale (may bring in training coordinator or police officer) Chief
Curtis will present video of WGPD officers traffic stops
b. June – traffic stops report, John, Lexie and Dale (once the numbers are released)
Discussion was had regarding the usefulness of the data as presented. Chief Curtis will
compile data for a 12–15-mile radius.
c. July – school safety, SROs, response to shootings, Jill and Sloane
d. August – mental health/overdose call diversions, 988 national line, Katy and Scott (Katy
will attempt to recruit someone who is working with the program)
8. Mid-month Zoom meeting?
If mid-month meetings are held, they should be limited to ½ hour. Chief Curtis will check the city zoom schedule.
Prior to the meeting Lexie sent the updated PSA to Jenny to include on social media – they will work on a new
PSA about Fireworks

person at the meeting.
