Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Action Summary - Final September 12, 2016
I CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:02.
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Mr. Flack made a motion to approve the agenda as presented and Mr. Weiss
gave the second. The agenda was approved unanimously.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
PR15-036 Approval of Minutes 6-6-16
Ms. Shockley made a motion to approve the minutes as writen and Mr. Flack
gave the second. The minutes were approved unanimously.
IV. PRESENTATION
PR15-037 SPORTS PROVIDER PRESENTATION
Jason Crawford gave a brief presentation from the Wellington Soccer Club. He
specifically highlighted their inclusion in the US Soccer Development
Academy. He explained how a club achieves such an honor and the benefits
as well as the methodology used to develop players. He also discussed how
the club is using technology to collect data on players as well as the business
side of the club.
Pete Bruno gave a presentation from the Wellington Colts Baseball Club. He
explained they are a 100% volunteer organization as well as being primarily
Wellington based. All board members are Wellington residents and he
estimates 95% fo the players are also residents. He explained that even as a
small club based in a community the have been able to compete with regional
based teams around the country. He also explained that unique from some
communities, all players are required to also play in the Wellington Little
League program.
Mr. DeLaney added that the relationship between the department and the
sports providers is fantastic and all do a great job of working together.
PR15-038 STAFF UPDATES
Mr. DeLaney gave an update on the new Wellington Community Center
including usage reports.

VI. NEW BUSINESS
Ms. Shockley asked if there would be future discussions on the K-Park and
would the committee be involved. Mr. DeLaney explained that he was not
currently aware of any specific direction for near term discussions. Mr. Flack

added that he believes the subject will come back before the Council soon and
believes it should.

Mr. Flack congratulated staff and the sports providers and applauded the work
they do.
Mr. Forgione also said he is very proud to be a part of the community.

Mr. Weiss made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Flack gave the second. The
meeting was adjourned at 7:40
