Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Action Summary - Final June 6, 2016
I CALL TO ORDER
After the meeting was callled to order, each of the Board members introduced
themselves.
PR15-033 Selection of Chair and Vice Chair
Mr. Fogione nominated Dr. Falzone for Chair Ms. Shcckley gave the second.
There were no further nominations. The Board named Dr. Falzone as the
Chair.
Mr. Flack suggested one of the previous members be Vice Chair. Dr. Falzone
nominated Mr. Forgione and Mr. Christmas gave the second. There were no
further nominations therefore Mr. Fogione was named Vice Chair.
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The agenda was approved as presented.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There were no objections to the minutes so they were approved as written.

IV. PRESENTATION
PR15-035 Staff Updates
Mr. DeLaney gave a brief history of the Recreation Department and the PRAB.
Mr. DeLaney explained that the PRAB served as the selection committee for
the selection of the tennis facility operation. After further review, the Village
made the decision to bring the operation in-house.
Mr. DeLaney also thanked the Board for the review of the fee schedule brought
before them which was eventually approved with minor changes by the Village
Council.
He explained that the Board takes direction from the Council but that the
department will occasionally bring an item forward for review. He also
explained that if a member had an item they thought should be discussed, they
could bring it up at a meeting and ask for concensus to be brought to a future
meeting.
Mr. DeLaney updated the Board on upcoming events including the Veterans
Open House, the annual 4th of July Celebration, and the Amphitheater
schedule. He distributed flyers indicating those events.
Dr. Falzone complimented staff on the quality of programs and events the staff
is able to put on.

Mr. DeLaney asked that at this time the Board choose members for the
background check sub-committee. He explained the three options available to
any volunteer who is discovered to have a qualifying event. One option is to
appeal the the sub-committee.
Mr. Flack, Ms. Shockley and Mr. Weiss volunteered to be on the committee and
the rest of the Board agreed.

Ms. Shockley thanked everyone for the opportunity and asked about the next
meeting. Mr. DeLaney explained that the meetings are always the first Monday
of the quarter and that the next date falls on Labor Day so it will have to be
moved. Staff will send out options for that date.
Mr. Forgione was also thankful to all. Mr. Weiss thanked Vice Mayor McGovern
for appointing him to the Board and is looking forward to the process.
Mr. Christmas was thankful also.

Mr. Buckstein said he looked forward to participating on the Board.
Dr. Falzone welcomed the new faces and took a brief moment to thank Mr.
Pignato, Mr. Zipp and Ms. Stockton for the time they served on the board.
