I. CALL TO ORDER
Ms. Debbie Evans, Vice Chairperson opened the meeting at 2:01 p.m.
Members present: Debbie Evans, Kay Brown, Richard Cosola, Charles Sandell.
Members absent: Stormi Bivin, William Gross, Joan Kaplan
Staff present: Brian Hopper, Operation Supervisor, Landscape Division, Chris
Macfarlane, Assistant Recording Secretary
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Pledge of Allegiance was observed.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Dr. Charles Sandell, seconded by Ms. Kay Brown
approving the Minutes of the March 1, 2017 Tree Board Meeting, as corrected,
approved unanimously by Debbie Evans, Kay Brown, Richard Cosola, Charles
Sandell (4-0), with Stormi Bivin, William Gross and Joan Kaplan absent.
IV. STAFF UPDATES
Mr. Brian Hopper updated the Tree Board on recent plantings since the last
Tree Board Meeting on March 1, 2017, the Earth Day/Arbor Day event on April
22, 2017 and the tree seedling Giveaways to Wellington schools. Mr. Hopper
also distributed a Tree Planting List, which documents trees planted in
Wellington by the Landscape Division.
Ms. Debbie Evans asked staff to add Eagle Arts Academy to the list of schools
to receive the annual tree seedling giveaways.
V. OLD BUSINESS
The revised F.L.O.W.E.R. Award form was reviewed and it was agreed by all
Tree Board members present (Debbie Evans, Kay Brown, Richard Cosola and
Charles Sandell) that the addition of the “Treemendous Tree” category does
not change the criteria and the nominated tree must be within a nicely
landscaped area.

A motion was made by Mr. Richard Cosola, seconded by Dr. Charles Sandell to
accept the revised F.L.O.W.E.R. Award form with the additional category,
“Treemendous Tree,” approved unanimously by Debbie Evans, Kay Brown,
Richard Cosola, Charles Sandell (4-0), with Stormi Bivin, William Gross and
Joan Kaplan absent.
VI. NEW BUSINESS
A motion was made by Mr. Richard Cosola, seconded by Ms. Kay Brown to
retain the present Board: Ms. Stormi Bivin as Chairperson and Ms. Debbie
Evans as Vice Chairperson and was unanimously approved by Debbie Evans,
Kay Brown, Richard Cosola, Charles Sandell (4-0), with Stormi Bivin, William
Gross and Joan Kaplan absent.
VII. COMMENTS
Tree Board members and Brian Hopper all agreed that the Earth/Arbor Day
event on April 22nd had a great turnout.
Ms. Debbie Evans requested that the link to America’s Biggest Trees (American
Forests) be sent to all Tree Board members.
VIII. ADJOURN
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 2:48 pm.
