Village of Wellington Council Meeting Minutes Hans Schneider, Mayor Council: Gene Hartman-Council President, Steve Boham, Mark Bughman, Helen Dronsfield, Gary Feron, Keith Rowland Council Chambers October 7, 2024 7:13 PM 1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE – Council President Hartman called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Motion by Feron, 2nd by Bughman to approve the minutes from the September 16, 2024 Council Meeting. Roll call vote was taken with all members voting “yes”. 4. FINANCIAL REPORTS – Motion by Rowland, 2nd by Feron to approve the expenses and pay the bills. COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR, COUNCIL, AND VILLAGE OFFICIALS  Mayor Schneider - Absent  Law Director Bond – Nothing to report.  Chief McPike - Absent  Finance Director Pfeiffer – Nothing to report.  Village Manager Greever – Mr. Greever reported on his AMP Annual Conference, which he mentioned in his memo. He touched on future energy storage, and behind the meter generation as talking points discussed at the meeting. He answered questions from Mr. Bughman regarding cyber security.  Main Street Wellington – MSW Director Arntz reported that voting is open for the flowerpot judging, which ends October 19th. She mentioned that her office will be closed October 15 – 17 due to the Heritage Ohio conference. She announced the downtown Trick-or-Treat on October 19, with a costume contest, and a performance by Janice’s Dance Studio to follow. She announced that the Kiwanis has donated $61,924.00 to the Village for playground equipment at Union School Park. The money was raised from fundraisers including Parade of Flags, the State of Wellington breakfast, and Pancake Day. She mentioned that Kiwanis have started selling nuts for the Morris Furcron Peterson Nut Sale, and encouraged resident to purchase nuts from a Kiwanis member. 6. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES  Finance – Mr. Hartman reported that the committee will meet on October 21, prior to council.  Police – Mr. Rowland reported that the committee will meet prior to council on October 21.  Public Works – Ms. Dronsfield reported that the committee met prior to council and discussed sanitary, storm and catch basin repairs. She mentioned that Public Works has mowed three weed letter properties this year, and commended residents for taking care of their properties. She reported that the fall soccer  classic will be held at the Rec. Park on October 19.  Utility – Mr. Bughman reported that the committee met prior to council and discussed a few electric outages caused by animals and buzzards. He reported that Andrew Broadwolf received his operators license. He thanked residents for getting their water surveys turned in, and encouraged others to submit theirs in a timely manner. He reported that Mid Ohio has completed 150 of the 420 hydro excavation program, and reported that a pump at the underpass had been rebuilt.  Ordinance – Mr. Feron reported that the committee will meet on October 21 prior to council.  Personnel – Mr. Boham reported that the committee met prior to council and discussed employee health insurance premium distribution, and heard from superintendents regarding retire/rehire proposals. 7. NEW BUSINESS Friday Night Football – Mr. Bughman reported that Friday is Wellington High School’s homecoming football game against Oberlin. Cemetery Cleanup – Mr. Hartman reported that the Cemetery cleanup day is October 15, and advised residents collect anything from their family’s burial sites that they would like to keep before then. Park Committee – Mr. Hartman announced that the Park Committee would be meeting on October 21 prior to council.  Big Thank You! – Mr. Hartman thanked the Wellington Kiwanis for the donation for playground equipment for Union School Park!! Fall Leaf Collection – Mr. Bughman asked residents to be patient during the fall leaf collection. Mr. Hartman added that he would like to see the majority of the leaves collected before Trick or Treat.
