July 12, 2022

The Wentworth Town Council held their regularly scheduled monthly meeting at the Wentworth
Town Hall, on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 7:00pm.
Council Members Present: Mayor Dennis Paschal Jr., Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Conner, Daryl
Crowder, Cheryl Moore
Council Members Absent: Dennis Paschal III
A quorum was met.
Staff Present: Yvonne Russell, Town Clerk & Finance Officer
Others Present: Ellis Martin, Attorney, Fox Rothschild LLP – Town of Wentworth
Roy Sawyers – Rockingham Update (Media)
Article I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Dennis Paschal, Jr. called the meeting to order.
Article II. INVOCATION
Mayor Paschal gave the invocation.
Article III. APPROVAL OF TOWN COUNCIL AGENDA
A. Requests and Petitions of Citizens
B. Approve/ Amend Agenda
Mayor Paschal made a MOTION, “To approve the Agenda as written”.
Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Conner seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion
carried.
Article IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Town Council Meeting – June 7, 2022
B. Town Council Meeting – June 16, 2022
Mayor Paschal made a MOTION, “The minutes be approved as written”.
Mayor Pro Tem Conner seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion
carried.

Article V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Consideration of Vending Machines at Wentworth Park
Yvonne Russell, Town Clerk & Finance Officer informed Council that she spoke with
Chrissy Austin at Coca-Cola Bottling Company about placing a vending machine at the
Wentworth Park.
Ms. Russell explained that Coca-Cola Bottling will keep a beverage machine at the
Park as long as the Town of Wentworth buys products to place in the machine. If the
Town does not place an order for drinks within a year’s time, Coca-Cola Bottling will
remove the machine from the Park.
Ms. Russell mentioned a phone call she received today from someone alerting the
Town of issues with vending machines, such as customers needing change or losing
their money in the machine.
Ms. Russell said she emailed Ms. Austin today to find out if a sign can be placed on
the machine with Coca-Cola Bottling’s contact information to report lost change, but
she has not received a reply.
Mayor Paschal made a MOTION, “We approve getting a vending machine at the Park
after Yvonne checks on and is comfortable with the process of getting returns.”
Councilmember Cheryl Moore seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion
carried.
Article VI. NEW BUSINESS
A. Consideration of Budget Amendment No 1 for Fiscal Year 2022-2023,
Re-Appropriation of Funds for Repairs at Wentworth Consolidated School Site
Mayor Paschal gave an update on repairs at the Wentworth Consolidated School. He
reported that the following work has been completed for the cost of approximately
$6,100.00:
Emergency Lights have been repaired and/or installed
Vegetation has been removed from around the gym’s exterior
Drains have been cleaned out, and clogs removed
Mayor Paschal said replacement of the gym windows and repair of gym doors needs
to happen soon. He’d also like to get a quote for repairs at the ball field.
Mayor Paschal made a MOTION, “We approve Budget Amendment No. 1 for Fiscal
Year 2022-2023.”
Mayor Pro Tem Conner seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion
carried.

these minutes.)

Article VII. PUBLIC COMMENTS
No one signed the speaker register for public comments.
Article VIII. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mayor Paschal made the following announcements:
The next regular meeting of the Wentworth Planning Board is scheduled for
Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 7:00 pm at the Wentworth Town Hall.
The next regular meeting of the Wentworth Town Council is scheduled for
Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 7:00 pm at the Wentworth Town Hall.
Article IX. ADJOURN
Mayor Paschal made a MOTION, “We adjourn”.
Mayor Pro Tem Conner seconded the motion, and the meeting adjourned.
