MINUTES Of the Special Meeting of the WENTWORTH TOWN COUNCIL August 15, 2022 6:30 pm Wentworth Town Hall 124 Peach Tree Road The Wentworth Town Council held a special meeting electronically via ZOOM, a cloud based video conferencing service, on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 6:30 pm. Council Members Present: Mayor Dennis Paschal Jr., Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Conner, Cheryl Moore, Dennis Paschal III, Daryl Crowder Council Members Absent: A quorum was met. Staff Present: Yvonne Russell, Town Clerk & Finance Officer Others Present: Roy Sawyers, Rockingham Update - Media Article I. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Dennis Paschal Jr. called the meeting to order. Article II. INVOCATION Mayor Paschal gave the invocation. Article III. CLOSED SESSION Pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a) (6) To consider the qualifications, competence, performance, character, fitness, conditions of appointment, or conditions of initial employment of an individual public officer or employee or prospective public officer or employee Mayor Paschal Jr. made a MOTION, “We move into closed session.” Councilmember Dennis Paschal III seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried. Mayor Paschal Jr. made a MOTION, “We move back into open session.” Councilmember Daryl Crowder seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried. Mayor Paschal made a MOTION, “We offer Hunter Wilson the position of Accounting Clerk/ Deputy Clerk with a starting salary of $30,000.00, plus the standard benefits package for employees of the Town of Wentworth as described in Section 3 of the Town of Wentworth Employee Handbook.” Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Conner seconded the motion.
