The meeting was called to order by Mayor Devine at 7:02 p.m.

1. R-2009-0180 Resolution approving a Planned Development Agreement amendment pursuant to
Sec. 12.61 of the Revised Municipal Code by and between the City of West Allis
and the owner of the Berkshire for proposed conversion of a portion of first floor
retail space to residential units within the Berkshire building located at 1414 S. 65 St.
and 6419-25 W. Greenfield Ave. (Tax Key No. 454-0635-001)

The Clerk's office received one (1) letter with concerns of the proposed Ordinance.
Appearances:
Dan Sorce, 8037 S. Mission Dr., Franklin, addressed truck traffic, past relocation, renovation,
landscaping, and jobs. He indicated that he cannot move forward with a building purchase
due to the 500' requirement in the proposed ordinance, and indicated that business activity
will take place inside the building.
Phil Rehberg, 5798 Point Dr., Waukesha, owner of West Allis Salvage, said the business started
in 1938. He described his familiarity with the industrial neighborhood and the current

business operation. He commented on processing facilities, central location, cost savings,
jobs, growth, and service. He addressed the business as an asset to the environment, and
mentioned the Proclamation received for beautification and being a good neighbor. He
addressed the differences between a recycling center and garbage transfer station, health and
fire hazards, outside storage, screening, the zoning map, and the 500' setback. He commented
on the strict guidelines his business must follow.
3. R-2009-0166 Resolution relative to the determination of Special Use Permit to establish auto repair
at Romero's Auto Sale, an existing business located at 5600-02 W. Burnham St.
(Tax Key No. 455-0033-000)

E. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION
Jenny Jezo, 11710 W. Hayes Ave., on behalf of Ermenc Park Estates and neighbors, addressed
the preservation of the neighborhood. She addressed attendance at various meetings and
circulated petitions. She read the petition for submittal to the City addressing signs for no
trucking, enforcement, 2010 special assessment, speeding, personal safety, quality of life, and
property values.
John Korich, 2509 117 St., addressed street parking, street surface and assessment charges.
He stated the street has turned into a thoroughfare, and commented on snowplowing.

Mayor Devine announced that the following Committees would meet during recess:

G. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS
Mayor's Report
Mayor Devine thanked the volunteers involved with National Night Out. He addressed the
next neighborhood partnership meeting with the West Allis Police Department.
Alderpersons Comments
Common Council President Sengstock commended Mike Pertmer, retiring Director of Public
Works, on his 36 years of service to the City. He addressed Mr. Pertmer's background, and
commented on Mike's good budgeting skills and maintaining the integrity of the Public Works
Department. In addition, Ald. Sengstock commented on the ten year improvement program,
and addressed parking on 117th Street.
Ald. Vitale extended his gratitude to Mike Pertmer, and wished him a happy retirement.
Ald. Reinke congratulated Mike Pertmer, and stated he has been one of the finest department
heads. She wished him a happy and healthy retirement.
Ald. Czaplewski addressed Mike Pertmer's fiscal responsibility. He wished Mike luck, and
thanked him for a great job.
