City of West Allis Meeting Minutes Common Council Mayor Dan Devine, Chair Alderperson James W. Sengstock, Council President Alderpersons: Gary T. Barczak, Michael J. Czaplewski, Kurt E. Kopplin, Thomas G. Lajsic, Richard F. Narlock, Rosalie L. Reinke, Daniel J. Roadt, Vincent Vitale, and Martin J. Weigel Tuesday, November 17, 2009 5:00 PM City Hall - Council Chambers REGULAR MEETING A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Mayor Devine at 5:00 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Present 10 - Barczak, Czaplewski, Kopplin, Lajsic, Narlock, Reinke, Roadt, Sengstock, Vitale, and Weigel C. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ald. Narlock. D. PUBLIC HEARINGS None. E. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION Robert Braun, 2160 S. 86 St., wished the Common Council a Merry Christmas, and announced the formation of the nonprofit Tea Party of Wisconsin. He stated the purpose of this organization is to say “No” to any government spending that causes an increase in property taxes. Violet Braun, commented on the Tea Party of Wisconsin, and suggested giving Police and Fire employees less hours in order to help with taxes. F. ANNOUNCEMENT OF RECESS MEETINGS OF STANDING COMMITTEES Mayor Devine announced that the following Committees would meet during recess: Administration & Finance, Public Works, Safety & Development, License & Health, and Advisory. G. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS Mayor's Report Mayor Devine welcomed the West Allis Youth Commission members. He commended Crawdaddy's as being named the Best Cajun Restaurant by the Shepherd's Express reader's poll. He also commended the West Allis Farmers Market as being #1. Alderpersons Comments Ald. Weigel commented on the recent citywide cleanup and acknowledged the volunteers. Ald. Reinke commented on the Celebrations Committee hosting the project for the veterans. She described the tree in the City Hall lobby and the wish list for the veterans. Hood, and described a woman's tattoo that read "All Gave Some, Some Gave All." Ald. Vitale addressed the city budget, and commented on working with the unions. He was delighted with the ones that came forward, and thanked those unions. He expressed his disappointment with the police union's leadership. H.
