City of West Allis Meeting Minutes Historical Commission Wednesday, January 9, 2019 4:04 PM City Hall, Room 128 7525 W. Greenfield Ave. REGULAR MEETING A. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gracyalny at 4:04 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Present 6- Mayor Dan Devine, Ms. Barbara Hart, Ms. Sarah Fonaas, Mr. Devan Gracyalny, Mr. Ray Nazer, and Mr. John Noll Excused 1- Ms. Patricia Wolfe Others Attending Shaun Mueller, Community & Economic Development Coordinator C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. 19-0018 December 12, 2018 (draft) Minutes A motion was made by Ms. Hart, seconded by Mr. Noll, that the minutes of the December 12, 2018 meeting be Approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 6- Mayor Devine, Ms. Hart, Ms. Fonaas, Mr. Gracyalny, Mr. Nazer, and Mr. Noll No: 0 D. NEW AND PREVIOUS MATTERS 2. 19-0020 Financial Report - Devan Gracyalny, Vice Chair/Treasurer Mr. Gracyalny reported that as of January 9, 2019, the balance on hand is $5,108.67. A motion was made by Ms. Hart, seconded by Mr. Nazer, that the Financial Report be Approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 6- Mayor Devine, Ms. Hart, Ms. Fonaas, Mr. Gracyalny, Mr. Nazer, and Mr. Noll No: 0 E. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION 3. 19-0021 Report from the West Allis Historical Society The committee went through pictures from the West Allis Historical Society site. The Milwaukee County Historical Society has asked to borrow a few Allis Chalmer's artifacts for display. 4. 19-0022 Status Reports - Historical Commission Projects and Activities A. Log Schoolhouse City of West Allis Page 1 Printed on 3/6/2019 Historical Commission Meeting Minutes January 9, 2019 The Log Schoolhouse has been winterized until the end of April. B. Seneca Station Mr. Gracyalny discussed a couple of items that could be mounted at the Station. C. Settlers Weekend Mr. Gracyalny mentioned that he would be attending a meeting tonight, at the Knights of Columbus, which may clarify if a $5,000 contribution will be considered. If we did have the event, it would likely be scaled back. D. Historic Preservation Grant The City may find out the results next month. E. Social Media Updates Nothing to report. 5. 19-0023 Discussion regarding proposed changes to the Historic Preservation Ordinance in regards to requiring owner’s consent for local designation. Nothing to report. 6. 19-0024 Discussion regarding May Historic Preservation Month activity. Mr. Gracyalny discussed 100 Years at the Farmer's Market. Could this be tied into the May event? They are also looking for individuals to assist with the event. F. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Ms. Hart, seconded by Mr. Nazer to adjourn the meeting at 4:40 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.
