SPECIAL MEETING - HEARING
A. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Vitale at 6:00 p.m.
B. ROLL CALL
Present 5- Vitale, Grisham, Reinke, Roadt, and Stefanski
Others present: Neal A. Steffek, Nicholas Cerwin, Assistant City Attorney, Rebecca
Hammock, Assistant City Attorney, and Ann Marie Neff, Secretary to the Committee.
C. NEW AND PREVIOUS MATTERS
A Hearing was conducted with Neal A. Steffek, Assistant City Attorney, Nicholas Cerwin,
Assistant City Attorney Rebecca Hammock, and members of the License & Health
Committee.
At 6:45 p.m. a motion was made by Ald. Grisham, seconded by Ald. Steffanski, to
convene in closed session. The motion carried unanimously.
Upon conclusion of the closed session at 7:02 p.m., the License and Health Committee
reconvened in open session.
2020-0482 Summons and Complaint in the matter of the complaint against Steffek LLC, Neal A.
Steffek, Agent, for the premises located at 1902 S. 68 St., d/b/a The Drunk Uncle
(2019-2020 Combination Class B Tavern License No. 2080)

This matter was held until September 22, 2020 to allow Mr. Steffek the opportunity to
check into resources for his requirements of rehabilitation.

July 2020

2020-0608 Review of license applicant background checks for consideration of possible approval
or denial
License & Health Committee recommended approval of the following applicants.
Adult-Oriented Operator Permit applications 2020-02021:

Operator (bartender/sales clerk) License renewal application 2020-2022:

Operator (bartender/sales clerk) License applications 2020-2022:

License & Health Committee recommended denial of the following applicants. The
Clerk's Office was directed to send a letter allowing the applicants an opportunity to
appear before the License & Health to show evidence of rehabilitation.

A motion was made by Grisham, seconded by Stefanski, that this matter be Recommended for
Approval according to the notes. The motion carried unanimously.
D. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Grisham, seconded by Stefanski, to adjourn the meeting at 7:43 p.m. The
motion carried unanimously.

2020-0482 Summons and Complaint in the matter of the complaint against Steffek LLC, Neal A.
Steffek, Agent, for the premises located at 1902 S. 68 St., d/b/a The Drunk Uncle
(2019-2020 Combination Class B Tavern License No. 2080)
For agenda file number 2020-0482, the committee may convene in closed session pursuant to the
provisions of WI State Statutes Sections 19.85(1)(a) and (g) for the purpose of deliberating
concerning a case which was the subject of any quasi-judicial hearing and conferring with the
city attorney who will render oral or written advice concerning strategy to be adopted with
respect to litigation in which the city is or is likely to become involved. This committee may
reconvene in open session after completion of the closed session to consider the balance of the
agenda.

D. ADJOURNMENT
City of West Allis Common Council members may attend the above License & Health Committee
meeting for information gathering purposes. Should a quorum of Common Council members
appear at this Committee meeting, a regular Common Council meeting may take place for the
purposes of gathering information on an item listed on the Committee agenda. Should such a
meeting occur, the date, time and location of the Common Council meeting will be that of the
License & Health Committee as listed on the License & Health Committee agenda.
All meetings of the License & Health Committee are public meetings. In order for the general public to make comments at the committee
