WEST HAVEN POLICE DEPARTMENT 200 SAWMILL ROAD WEST HAVEN, CT 06516 John Karajanis Jr. Chief of Police REGULAR MEETING WEST HAVEN BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS JANUARY 20, 2015 The regular Meeting of the West Haven Board of Police Commissioners was held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Police Headquarters, 200 Saw Mill Rd., West Haven, CT 06516 Present were Commissioners Raymond Collins, R.K. Smith, Deborah Wright, Paul Butler Jr. and Andrew Giaquinto. Also present were Chief John Karajanis, Deputy Chief Joseph Perno, Det/Sgt Walter Casey, President of Local 895 and Brent Watt, Council Liaison. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Chairperson Collins called the Meeting to order at 7:00pm. The following items were added to the January 20, 2015 Agenda: 6. New Business 6.1 Request for retirement – Ofc Kevin Boykin 7. Pension Board 7.1 Request for Pension Benefits A motion was then presented by Commissioner Wright to accept the January 20, 2015 Agenda, as amended. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved unanimously. 1. Minutes of January 6, 2015 There were no corrections/additions made to the Minutes of January 6, 2015. A motion was then presented by Commissioner Smith to accept the Minutes of January 6, 2015. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved unanimously. 2. Public Input None 3. Communications: 3.1 Investigative Services Division Monthly Reports – December 2014 3.2 Patrol Division K-9 Monthly Report – December 2014 3.3 Support Services Monthly Reports – December 2014 3.4 Monthly Attendance Report – December 2014 3.5 Animal Control Division Monthly Reports – December 2014 3.6 Letter of Appreciation – WHPD – John Carrano & Family  4. Report of the Chief Chief Karajanis reported on the following: 1. ATAC completed for December 2. Administrative ATAC scheduled for tomorrow 5. Old Business None 6. New Business 6.1 Request for retirement – Ofc Kevin Boykin A motion was presented by Commissioner Butler to approve the request for retirement for Ofc Keven Boykin, effective 01/21/15. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wright and approved unanimously. 7. Pension Board A motion was presented by Det/Sgt Casey to approve Pension Benefits and monies as outlined by the Pension Benefit Coordinator for Ofc. Kevin Boykin. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved unanimously. 8. Report of Committees – Personnel Committee Chairperson Smith had no report. 9. Commissioner Reports None 10. Executive Board A motion was presented by Commissioner Wright to enter into Executive Session to discuss the following: 10.1 Special Victims Unit – December 2014 10.2 Personnel Matter The motion was seconded by Commissioner Smith and approved unanimously.
