REGULAR MEETING
WEST HAVEN BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS
MAY 19, 1915
The Regular meeting of the |West Haven Board of Police Commissioners was held on
Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Police headquarters, 200 Saw Mill Rd., West Haven, CT.
Present were Commissioners Raymond Collins, R.K. Smith, Deborah Wright, Paul
Butler, Jr sand Andrew Giaquinto. Also present were Chief John Karajanis, Deputy
Chief Joseph Perno and Det/Sgt Walter Casey. Brent Watt, Council Liaison was not
present.
After the Pledge of Allegiance, Chairperson Collins called the meeting to order at
7:00 PM.
There were no additions added to the May 19, 2015 Agenda.
A motion was then presented by Commissioner Smith to accept the May 19, 2015
Agenda.. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved
unanimously.

There were no corrections/additions made to the Minutes of May 5, 2015.
A motion was then presented by Commissioner Wright to accept the Minutes of
May 5, 2015. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved
unanimously.
2. Public Input
Ret Officer John Jarvie wished Lt Wynoski well in his retirement. He stated that
they went to the academy together and that Lt Wynoski gave 150% to his job all
the time. He also stated that Lt Wynoski was the first accident reconstruction
officer.

4. Report of the Chief
Chief Karajanis reported that negotiations are ongoing and he attended
ceremonies regarding the certification of accreditations.

6. New Business
6.1 Request Disability Retirement – Lt Joseph Wynosky
A motion was presented by Commissioner Wright to approve the request
Disability Retirement for Lt Joseph Wynosky, effective 05/20/15. The motion was
seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved unanimously.
At this time Deputy Chief Perno cited that Lt Wynosky started with the
department 12/01/1981, received 15 commendations, had a passion for his work
and worked every division.
7. Pension Board
7.1 Request Disability Retirement Benefits – Lt Joseph Wynosky
A motion was presented by Det/Sgt Casey to approve Request Disability
Retirement Benefits and monies as outlined by Pension Benefit Coordinator. The
motion was seconded by Commissioner Giaquinto and approved unanimously.
8. Report of Committees – Personnel Committee
Chairperson Smith had no report
9. Commissioner Reports
Commissioner Wright congratulated all the officers for the great work they all do
on a daily basis.
10. Executive
A motion was presented by Commissioner Smith to enter into Executive Session
at 7:10 PM to discuss the following:
10.1 Special Victims Unit Monthly Reports – April 2015
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved unanimously.
