REGULAR MEETING WEST HAVEN BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS JUNE 2, 2015 The Regular Meeting of the West Haven Board of Police Commissioners was held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Police Headquarters, 200 Saw Mill Rd. West Haven, CT. Present were Commissioners Raymond Collins, R.K. Smith, Deborah Wright, Paul Butler Jr, and Andrew Giaquinto. Also present were Chief John Karajanis, Deputy Chief Joseph Perno, Det/Sgt Walter Casey, and Brent Watt, Council Liaison. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Chairperson Collins called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. 1. Minutes of May 19, 2015 There were no corrections/additions made to the Minutes of May 19, 2015. A motion was presented by Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Giaquinto to accept the Minutes and approve unanimously. 2. Public Input Sgt Walter Casey spoke in regards to Ofc Robert Garbalosa and Ofc Christopher Scott leaving the Department unhappy, because of no Pension Plan. Sgt Casey also spoke on the Promotion of Sgt Christopher Zitnay to Lieutenant and Ofc Jordan Zwickler to Sergeant. 3. Communications: 3.1 Letter Appreciation – Chief Karajanis & WHPD – Gene Urbinati 4. Report of the Chief 4.1 The Next War for Talent Part I 4.2 Training Division 5. Old Business –None  6. New Business 6.1 The Resignation of Officer Robert Garbalosa, effective June 11, 2015. A motion was presented by Commissioner Butler, seconded by Commissioner Giaquinto and approved unanimously. 6.2 The Resignation of Officer Christopher Scott, effective June 11, 2015. A motion was presented by Commissioner Butler, seconded by Commissioner Giaquinto and approved unanimously. 6.3 Promotion Lieutenant of Sgt Christopher Zitnay, effective June 5, 2015. A motion was presented by Commissioner Butler, seconded by Commissioner Smith and approved unanimously. 6.4 Promotion to Sergeant of Officer Jordan Zwickler, effective June 5, 2015. A motion was made by Commissioner Butler, seconded by Commissioner Smith and approved unanimously. 6.5 Hope is coming 5K Race Saturday 8/8/2015, approved by Commissioner Giaquinto, seconded by Commissioner Butler, Unanimously. 6.6 Hickory St Block Party Saturday 6/27/2015, approved by Commissioner Giaquinto, seconded by Commissioner Butler, unanimously. 6.7 Harugari Singing Society – Summer Events approved by Commissioner Giaquinto, seconded by Commissioner Smith, unanimously. 6.8 Retirement and Worker’s Compensation procedures 6.8 a– Litigation Executive Session 7. Pension Board – None 8. Report of Committees – None 9. Commissioners Reports – None 10. Executive Session – Entered in to Executive Session at 8:10pm.
