REGULAR MEETING WEST HAVEN BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS FEBRUARY 16, 2016 The Regular Meeting of the West Haven Board of Police Commissioners was held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Police Headquarters, 200 Saw Mill Rd., West Haven. Present were Commissioners Raymond Collins, Paul butler, Jr. and Deborah Wright. Also present were Chief John Karajanis, Deputy Chief Joseph Perno, Det/Sgt Walter Casey, President of Local 895 and Brent Watt, Council Liaison. Commissioner Andrew Giaquinto was not present. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Chairperson Collins called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. There were no items added to the February 16, 2016 Agenda. A motion was then presented by Commissioner Butler to accept the February 16, 2016 Agenda. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wright and approved unanimously. 1. Minutes of February 2, 2016 There were no corrections/additions made to the Minutes of February 2, 2016. A motion was then presented by Commissioner Butler to accept the Minutes of February 2, 2016. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wright and approved unanimously. 2. Det/Sgt Walter Casey addressed the Commissioners regarding former Commissioner R.K. Smith. He noted that he was a member of the State Police, worked for the State Attorney’s office and had quite a resume as a police officer and was relied on for his input. Det/Sgt Casey noted he was a great Commissioner and will be missed. 3. Old Business 5.1 Ordinance Violation Hearing – Dennis Vaders – Park Violation 5.1 Ligation Executive Session A motion was present4ed by Chairperson Collins to waive the fine. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wright and approved unanimously. 6. New Business 6.1 Don’s Hat Rack Motorcycle Ride – Sunday, 6/5/16 A motion was presented by Commissioner Wright to approve Traffic Management Team’s request for the Don’s Hat Rack Motorcycle Ride, Sunday, 6/5/16, starting at Hamden Ice Rink, left on Benham, right onto Dixwell continue down Dixwell to New Haven, right onto Park St towards hospital, arrive at Smilow Cancer Center. Then to the Polish-American Club, West Haven – Howard Ave, Left onto North Frontage, right onto Ella Grasso Blvd, Left on Derby Ave, left onto Grassy Hill Rd to duck pond in Milford center, left onto West Main right onto Prospect, left onto New Haven Ave, right onto Gulf Street, left onto Welch’s Point, cross over Buckingham Ave, right onto Pond Point, left on Edgefield Ave, left at Beach House restaurant, Merwin Ave, right back onto New Haven Ave through Woodmont on Ocean Ave along West Haven Beach, left on Campbell Ave, left at West Spring St, club is on hill on left. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved unanimously. 6.2 Ordinance Violation Hearing – Nick Patenaude – Dispute ticket 6.2 Ligation Executive Session A motion was present4ed by Chairperson Collins to keep the ticket as is. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved unanimously. 6.3 Addition to Tow List – Bruneau’s Garage, Inc. A motion was presented by Commissioner Butler to add Bruneau’s Garage, Inc. to the tow list, effective 02/17/16. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wright an approved unanimously 7. Pension Board 7.1 Dave Moran – Morgan Stanley Chairperson Wright reported that Dave Moran from Morgan Stanley will be at the 1st Tuesday in March meeting. 8. Report of Committees- Personnel Committee No report  -3- 9. Commissioner Reports Commissioner Wright reported that Commissioner Giaquinto is home from the Hospital and is doing well and will be at the 1st Tuesday in March meeting. 10. Executive Session A motion was presented by Commissioner Wright to adjourn the meeting at 7:10pm The motion was seconded by Commissioner Butler and approved unanimously.
