REGULAR MEETING WEST HAVEN BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS May 2, 2017 The regular meeting of the West Haven Board of Police Commissioners was held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 7:00PM at the Police Headquarters, 200 Saw Mill Rd. West Haven. Present were Commissioner, Paul Butler, Jr., Peter BonTempo Jr., Deborah Wright, and Keith Sweeney. Also present were Chief John Karajanis, Jr. and Deputy Chief Joseph Perno. Absent were Commissioner Raymond Collins and Dave Russell, City Liaison. Since Chairperson Collins was absent, Commissioner Wright stepped in as acting chair. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Acting Chairperson Wright called the meeting to order at 7:02PM 1. Minutes of April 18, 2017 A motion was presented by Commissioner Sweeney to accept the Minutes of April 18, 2017. The motion was seconded by Commissioner BonTempo and approved unanimously. 2. Public Input Since no one from the public came forth, public session was closed at 7:04. 3. Communication 3.1 Investigative Services Division Monthly Report– March 2017 3.2 Monthly Injury & Lost Time Reports – March 2017 3.3 K-9 Monthly Report – March 2017 3.4 Letter of Appreciation – Sgt. Ciccosanti – Mary Dechello Giannotti & Dechello Family 4. Report of the Chief Another business inspection meeting was held at city hall with the health department, building, and John Lewis, and our street crime unit captain in attendance. Several members of the police department attended the annual police expo that occurred. Chief Karajanis also attended the mayor’s department head meeting and reported to city council for the police budget for question and answer. Chief Karajanis also attend a drone demo in Trumbull and had a special event meeting for planned event up at lotus lounge. It relates to a religious ceremony for the Spanish community. It will be happening within the next month. Meetings were scheduled with the building to make sure all the ordinances are met. Chief Karajanis also met the fire chief and the captain of training with the training officer at the houses that are scheduled for demolition should the project at west rivers go through. And they were selecting houses for doing the training for the officers. Chief Karajanis also wanted to inform everyone about the Atec meeting tomorrow morning and the community meeting on the 31st. 5. Old Business None 6. New Business None 7. Pension Board None 8. Commissioner Reports Commissioner Wright wanted to remind the committee that she will be having surgery on Friday, thus she will be out for a month for her period of recovery. 10. Executive Session 10.1 Special Victims Unit Monthly Activity Report – March 2017 Commissioner Sweeney motioned to go into executive session, seconded by Commissioner BonTempo, and approved unanimously at 7:19PM.
