CALL TO ORDER Member Palardy called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND ROLL CALL Member Palardy led the Pledge of Allegiance. Members present: Linda Palardy, Diana Adams, Jack Masson, Sandy Carbon, Donald Curry and Linda Smura. Also present: Council Liaison Daniel McDow, Parks & Recreation Director Richard Boprey, Special Projects Coordinator Sandi Wood and City Attorney Morris Richardson. 3. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS/INTRODUCTION OF BOARD MEMBERS City Attorney Richardson advised the new board on the Sunshine Law and how it relates to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. 4. NEW BUSINESS A. BOARD ELECTIONS Member Palardy made a motion to elect Member Curry as Chair. Seconded by Member Adams. Motion carried 6-0 Member Palardy made a motion to elect Member Adams as Vice Chair. Seconded by Member Curry. Motion carried 6-0. 5. PARKS AND RECREATION UPDATES Parks and Recreation Director Boprey presented updates on the Park Maintenance Building Renovation Project, the Clements Wood Park Restroom Renovation Project, the Veterans Memorial Complex Landscaping and Irrigation Project, the Splash Pad Maintenance, Floor 3-1  resurfacing and canopy shade structure. A report was also provided on the FOD Finance Report and the COVID testing site. Members questioned the format of the Agenda Items updates and wording that asked to accept each of these items. It was agreed that future agenda status update items would ask to “receive” versus “accept” the items. 6. PUBLIC COMMENTS Council Liaison Daniel McDow presented the members with a flyer for a Special Olympics Recognition Ceremony that will be held at the West Melbourne Community Park Amphitheater on March 12, 2022 at 1 p.m. 7. SUMMARY Chair Curry stated that he is glad to be a member and wants the board to be an asset to the Parks and Recreation Department and will encourage the flow of information and ideas to the Parks and Recreation Director and Board members. Parks and Recreation Director Boprey thanked the board and encouraged members to feel free to come to his office any time for questions, updates and ideas and any general conversation. There being no further business, Member Masson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Member Carbon. Motion carried 6-0. RECOMMENDATION Parks and Recreation Director recommends that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board: Review and approve the concept of the Skate Park bleachers and shade project. FISCAL IMPACT Parks and Recreation Director to acquire quotes. 5B - 1 March 9, 2022 DISCUSSION A new pavilion to be constructed at Clements Wood Park adjacent to the new playground and the recently renovated bathroom facilities. RECOMMENDATION Parks and Recreation Director recommends that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board: Receive the completed project status update at the Community Skate Park bowl area. FISCAL IMPACT In line with Parks Maintenance and Repair (2021-2022 Budget). 6B - 1 March 9, 2022 DISCUSSION The attached picture shows the completed work along the perimeter area of the concrete bowl.
