WESTMINSTER HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION MINUTES OF MEETING May 28, 2014 On the evening of Wednesday, May 28, 2014, a meeting of the Westminster Historic District Commission (HDC) was held at City Hall at 7:00 p.m. Statement of Authority and Qualifications: The Chair officially opened the meeting with the following statement: “The Westminster Historic District Commission derives its authority from Chapter 164, Article 9A of the City Code; which is derived from Article 66B, Section 8 of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The qualifications of the Westminster Historic District Commission are on file at the City Administration Building, 54 W. Main Street; the file is open to the public. Roll Call: Present were Chair McMasters, Vice -Chair Camlin and Commissioners Goodell and Wagman. Steve Sager, City Planner, served as staff to the Commission. Approval of Minutes: On a motion by Commissioner Camlin and seconded by Commissioner Goodell the Minutes of the meeting held March 12, 2014 were approved. Public Hearings: None Scheduled. Old Business: a. 2014 Historic Holiday House Tour—Willis & Court Streets The Commission reviewed the status of the 2014 Holiday House Tour.  Review Major Project Steps—incl. Coordinators, Volunteers & Assignments  Commission & Commissioner Involvement  Review List of Participants to Date b. 2014 Projects, Goals & Objectives  250th Sestercentennial Celebration & Historic Preservation The majority of the events will take place during the month of September. One component of the City’s Sestercentennial Celebration will be a time capsule. The Commission is being asked to make recommendations for history related items to be included. Historic Walking Tour brochures of Main Street will be a major feature of the Celebration.  East Leg from Longwell to New Windsor  Commercial from Longwell to Railroad Ave. also including Longwell’s Mansion, Armory and the Green Stone Bldg on Liberty (O’Lordans)  West Leg from Railroad Ave to McDaniel  City Hall Redecoration Commissioner Goodell described his recommendations for the interior redecoration of City Hall. New Business: a. Preservation Maryland Annual Conference The Commission was informed that the annual conference of Preservation Maryland will be held in Westminster on Wednesday, July 23rd at McDaniel Commissioner Reports: The Commission members present thanked “City Administrator Marge Wolf for attending the meeting and providing them with important information and updates.
