Village of Weston, Wisconsin OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 4:30 p.m., or immediately following the Tourism Commission, in the Board Room at the Municipal Center. AGENDA ITEMS. 1. Finance Committee Call to Order & Welcome by Chairperson Ermeling. Meeting called to order at 4:53 p.m. by Finance Committee Chairperson Ermeling. 2. Roll Call by Recording Secretary. Roll call of Finance Committee indicated 5 members present Member Present Bender, Robert YES Ermeling, Barb YES Meinel, Steve YES Simmons, Ryan YES Sukup, Carrie YES 3. Approval of minutes from previous meeting: December 21, 2020 Motion by Bender, second by Simmons, to approve previous meeting minutes from December 21, 2020. Yes Vote: 5 No Votes: 0 Abstain: 0 Not Voting: 0 Result: PASS Member Voting Bender, Robert YES Ermeling, Barb YES Meinel, Steve YES Simmons, Ryan YES Sukup, Carrie YES 4. Public Comments. None. ACKNOWLEDGE WORK PRODUCT TRANSMITTALS. None. EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS & REPORTS. None. POLICY ISSUES – DISCUSSIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS. 5. Discussion and possible recommendation on requesting proposals for assessor services Trautman let the Committee know that our current assessor stated that he can no longer complete a full reassessment, so the Village needs to decide how to proceed. Trautman stated she is concerned the assessment ratio will keep dropping. The Finance Committee discussed whether the higher cost is worth it for a full reassessment versus a market revaluation. There was also discussion on how the Village does have some time before it needs to come into compliance with state statute. This item will be brought to the Board in March. Motion by Bender, second by Simmons, to recommend the Board of Trustees request a price and timetable from our current assessor to complete a market revaluation. Remarks from staff. − Trittin let the committee know that the Village is enrolled in the SDC program and that the first batch of referral letters have been sent out. − Trautman gave an update on how year-end is going so far. We are looking at a decent surplus and plan to use that to pay down the SAFER deficit. 9. Remarks from Committee Members. Bender and Simmons may be gone March 15th but may be able to get on Zoom. 10.
