45. Modification to Section 5.13 of the Employee Handbook for clothing
reimbursement for Public Works, Utility and Park staff (on recording 54:57
https://youtu.be/EBc00S0kN0c?t=3297)
Motion by Fiene, second by Zeyghami to approve the Modification to Section
5.13 of the Employee Handbook for clothing reimbursement for Public Works,
Utility and Park staff. Q/Xiong asked how we compare to the other
municipalities; that offer a reimbursement. Donner said some do and some do
not. He said this is an important benefit we offer to our employees that are
working in the elements. Xiong asked if we are giving them the same
reimbursements that other municipalities give. Donner said that a $195
reimbursement does not go very far in purchasing safe PPE for the employees.
Maloney asked if we mandate a steel toe boot. Donner said we do require a
steel toe. Meinel and Xiong would like to see what other municipalities are
doing. Wodalski said Merrill gives $200. The receipts that he gets from the
employees are well over $195. If they buy steel toe boots, they are often $220,
insulated bibs are $60. Maloney asked if the employees turn in receipts.
Wodalski said employees turn in receipts all year long.
