Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention & Visitors Bureau No comments. 19. Administrator Donner is following up on the TID #2 amendments. A special meeting will be held about the topic before a public hearing. No dates have been determined yet. Donner has been attending meetings held by the Wausau Metropolitan Planning Organization. 20. Clerk No comments. 21. Finance Trautman said the final rule on the ARPA funds was published, allowing the Village to use funds 100% for government services. The board needs to start prioritizing these funds. Fire/EMS Finke said a new ambulance was delivered and will be in service at the Weston station. One full time employee went to part-time. Two applicants have applied for the job opening. A CPR valor award was given to a Weston resident. 23. Parks & Recreation Osterbrink said the ice rinks are open. We do not have staff to work in the warming house, so they are remaining closed this season. 24. Plan/Dev Higgins said Aldi’s will be starting construction of the new grocery store later this year. 25. Police Chief Schulz gave a staffing update. 26. Public Works Wodalski gave an update on the river boring project, is being completed by Advanced Construction. The project should be finished in June 2022. There will be an open house informational meeting held January 31, 2022, at Dales Weston Lanes about the Weston Ave project (CR-X to CR-J). 27. Technology No comments. Wodalski said sometimes it is difficult to get accurate numbers, based on the time we bid the project and equipment availability. There was recently a project that came in below budget by $49,000, and this project was slightly higher by $43,000. Q/Xiong asked about the life expectancy and cost difference between used and new. Wodalski said the one we are purchasing is from 2013. The current scissor lift we own is over 20 years old. It was purchased twenty years ago, and it was used when we bought it. A new one is around $12,000 and the used one is about half that cost. Q/Maloney asked what the parameters are. Donner said they are just going to evaluate and put a package together. Meinel wanted to know if we are staying within the $65,000 budget. Donner said we are going to stay within that budget, we are going to evaluate what can be re-used. Xiong wanted to know why we picked EBI. Donner said that Kueney Architects suggested we work with them based on the price they gave us. They also have the best services proposal. Q/Xiong asked how we compare to the other municipalities; that offer a reimbursement. Donner said some do and some do not. He said this is an important benefit we offer to our employees that are working in the elements. Xiong asked if we are giving them the same reimbursements that other municipalities give. Donner said that a $195 reimbursement does not go very far in purchasing safe PPE for the employees. Maloney asked if we mandate a steel toe boot. Donner said we do require a steel toe. Meinel and Xiong would like to see what other municipalities are doing. Wodalski said Merrill gives $200. The receipts that he gets from the employees are well over $195. If they buy steel toe boots, they are often $220, insulated bibs are $60. Maloney asked if the employees turn in receipts. Wodalski said employees turn in receipts all year long.
