BOROUGH OF WESTWOOD HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Thursday, June 15, 2023 7:30 PM, Borough Hall MINUTES 1. OPENING OF THE MEETING – 7:35 pm 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 3. ROLL CALL – present: Mike Bieri, Beth Dell, Jackie Martin, Christine Scheideler, Lou Scheideler, Steve Lydon. Absent: Noeline Grefrath 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - May Minutes submitted by CS, accepted for approval - Motion J. Martin, 2nd M. Bieri. Motion passed. CS to forward approved minutes to JMV 5. PROCEDURAL – Discussion re: meeting change to Tuesday, July 11, 2023 6. CORRESPONDENCE a. Beth Dell has reached out to L.Scott Berkoben who has tentatively confirmed his interest in joining the HPC. There has also been correspondence with a few other qualified individuals who may also be interested in joining. 7. STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTS and VOUCHERS a. n/a (account balance unchanged: $5,800.00) i. Open Items (Approved) i. Library to digitize historic documents; $1000 contribution to project from HPC (Approved Feb. Meeting) ii. Proposal of $850.00 from Tim Adriance to designate 84 Washington. (Approved Feb. Meeting) 8. OLD BUSINESS a. Projects – Designation 84 Washington – L. Scheideler Approval scheduled for July meeting (once approved then submitted to planning & zoning boards for approval) - Walking Tour #2 Travel Storys Program – L. Scheideler working on grant - Draft Ordinance Project – S. Lydon review & submit to borough clerk Recommendation to approve Section 1 195-175 Motion M. Bieri, 2nd J. Martin. Review of Resolution to designate 84 Washington – Members to review and plan to vote on 7/11/23 b. Amend bylaws from “second Wednesday” to reflect the current schedule of Third Thursday of every month. – Motion: J. Martin; 2nd: M. Bieri, Motion passed “IV. OFFICERS A. The officers of the WHPC shall conform to the requirements of "Section 195-177. Composition of WHPC; qualifications; vacancies; terms; membership requirements; removal; officers and staff." B. The January meeting of the WHPC shall be its organizational meeting. At that meeting, the Committee shall elect from among its members a Chairman and a Vice Chairman. The Committee shall establish a regular schedule of meetings for the year and provide notice of such meetings in accordance with the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act. The WHPC shall meet once a month, on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 P.M. in Westwood Borough Hall, unless another date, time, or place shall have been adopted by the WHPC at its organizational meeting.” c.
