MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL WHARTON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS SELECTION COMMITTEE City Hall 120 East Caney Street Wharton, Texas 77488 Monday, September 23, 2019 6: 00 p.m. City Manager Andres Garza, Jr. declared a meeting of the City Council Wharton Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors Selection Committee duly open for the transaction of business at 6: 00 p.m. Committee Members present were: Mayor Tim Barker, Councilmember Steven Schneider and Councilmember Clifford Jackson. Committee Member absent was: None. City Councilmember present was: Councilmember Russell Machann and Councilmember Terry Freese. Staff members present were: City Manager Andres Garza, Jr., Finance Director Joan Andel and Assistant to the City Manager Brandi Jimenez. Visitors: Wharton Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Chad Odom. The third item on the agenda was Public Comments. There were no Public Comments. The fourth item on the agenda was to review and consider the reading of the minutes held September 24, 2018. Councilmember Steven Schneider made a motion to approve the minutes. Councilmember Clifford Jackson seconded the motion. All voted in favor. The fifth item on the agenda was to review and consider the Appointments- Wharton Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors for the term beginning October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2021. City Manager Andres Garza, Jr. stated to the Committee that there were four applications received, the two incumbents and two new applications. He stated that Councilmember Russell Machann who serves on the Board for the City Council position term expires on September 30, 2019. After some discussion, Mayor Tim Barker made a motion recommend to the City Council to re-appoint Councilmember Russell Machann to Board but the extend the application deadline to October 11, 2019 for anyone else who would like to submit an application. He also recommend that the Committee meet on October 14, 2019 to review all application and make appointments to the Board. Councilmember Steven Schneider seconded. All voted in favor.
