WHITEFISH ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE MINUTES June 1, 2021 The meeting was called to order by Shane Jacobs at 8:21 AM PRESENT: Christine Bleyhl, Stacy Caldwell, Shane Jacobs, Diane Kane, Leslie Lowe, Tracy Rossi ABSENT: Paul McElroy STAFF: Wendy Compton-Ring PUBLIC COMMENT: none MINUTES: The minutes from May 18, 2021 were unanimously approved. OLD BUSINESS Hartman Duplex, trim color change, 1320 Wisconsin Avenue (ARC 20-25) The applicant presented the color change. Diane – looks good Tracy – nice improvement Motion: Christine – move to approve Tracy – 2nd Discussion: none Vote: motion passes unanimously Goosebay Capital LLC, Amendment to Coffee Kiosk, 6191 Highway 93 S (ARC 20-02) The applicant presented the change to the coffee kiosk to the standard Florence coffee kiosk. Diane – noted the formula retail design standards in the adopted Whitefish Arch Review Standards, changes are needed to complement Whitefish, not look like Florence Coffee kiosk in any other town, we will want some changes made. The buildings all look a bit different, but the applicant would like to visit about changes that would make it meet the City standards. Asked the Committee about what changes need to be made to meet the requirements. 1 Leslie – is there an opportunity to add a picnic table next to the building in the landscaping area on either side of the coffee hut; any opportunity for outdoor seating; we will need to see the color palette. Haven't reviewed the Arch Review Standards in detail Diane – a careful review of the design standards would be helpful Motion: Leslie – table Tracy – 2nd Discussion: none Vote: motion passes unanimously 123 Wisconsin townhouse, amendments, Jarrett Hannon (ARC 20-20) The Committee reviewed the changes and thought the changes looked good. Motion: Christine – move to approve Leslie – 2nd Discussion: none Vote: motion passes unanimously NEW BUSINESS Fountainhead Family Medical, 844 Baker Avenue, shed (ARC 21-23) The applicant presented the new storage shed color will match the existing buildings, the trim will match the building trim and the roof will be the same. Motion: Leslie – move to approve as submitted Tracy – 2nd Discussion: none Vote: motion passes unanimously Colton Behr, duplex, 20 Woodland Place (ARC 21-24) The applicant described the project, its location, its relationship to the building to the west and the building and its landscaping. The applicant described the materials and colors, and the Committee reviewed the samples. Leslie – appreciates the planting plan; wonders about the brightness of the white it might be the rendering Christine – likes it 2 Motion: Christine – move to approve as submitted Tracy – 2nd Discussion: none Vote: motion passes unanimously OTHER ITEMS • Tree Preservation During Construction – the Committee will talk about this at the next meeting. The Committee talked about the pruning in front of the new car wash. They recommended some light pruning should occur in the fall and then see how it will look next year. There is hope that these trees will come back and look OK. • ADU design standards. Staff assembled a draft and the Committee offered suggestions. Staff will work these into the next draft and let the Housing Steering Committee know their thoughts and ideas. OLD BUSINESS CONTINUED at 100 E 2nd Street Repainting, 100 E 2nd Street, Esther Barnes (ARC 21-21) Committee met on-site to review the samples painted on the building. There was considerable discussion regarding the application of the trim on the building and where it would look appropriate.
