CITY OF WILLARD BOARD OF ALDERMEN AUGUST 25TH, 2008 7:00 P.M. Board present: Mayor Jamie Schoolcraft; Aldermen Richard Simpson; Aldermen Joe Cosby; Aldermen Louie Amodeo; Aldermen Paul Hood; Aldermen Dale Duvall; and Aldermen Bryan Vincent. Also in attendance: City Clerk, Kathy Blakemore; Community Relations Officer/Deputy City Clerk, Kate Gould; CFO, Karen Robson; Director of Public Works, Charlie Jones; Chief of Police, Tom McClain; Corporal Bob Bell; PB Chairmen, Pat Lloyd; PB Vice Chairmen/P&Z Vice Chairmen, Lucille Murray; and City Attorney, Doug Harpool. Guest present: Ruth Hunter with Cross County Times. Mayor Jamie Schoolcraft led the Pledge of Allegiance. City Attorney, Doug Harpool opened the PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE PROPERTY TAX LEVY FOR 2008, GENERAL FUND TAX LEVY IS .4048 & PARK TAX LEVY IS .1239. City Attorney, Doug Harpool asked if anyone wished to speak in favor or opposition. No one spoke. City Attorney, Doug Harpool recommended that the Public Hearing be closed. Mayor Jamie Schoolcraft called the meeting to order. Roll Call City Clerk, Kathy Blakemore called roll call-Aldermen Simpson-present; Aldermen Cosby- present; Aldermen Amodeo-present; Mayor Schoolcraft-present; Aldermen Hood-present; Aldermen Duvall-present; and Aldermen Vincent-present. Agenda Amendments/Approval of agenda Mayor Jamie Schoolcraft stated that item #11 needed to be removed from the agenda. Motion made by Aldermen Simpson with second by Aldermen Amodeo to approve the agenda with the amendment listed above. Minutes 08/11/08 Motion made by Aldermen Duvall with second by Aldermen Vincent to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on August 11th, 2008. Aldermen Simpson-I; Aldermen Cosby-I; Aldermen Amodeo-I; Aldermen Hood-I; Aldermen Duvall-I; and Aldermen Vincent-I. All votes yes. Motion carried. Karen stated that the IRS has increased the mileage rate for July 1st thru December 31st 2008 from .505 to .585. Karen requested approval to raise the city’s reimbursement for mileage from .505 to .585. Motion made by Aldermen Simpson with second by Aldermen Amodeo to approve the increase in mileage rate reimbursement from .505 to .585. Karen stated that the budget workshop is scheduled for September 22nd at 12:00 noon. Ordinance-Tax Levy 2008 BILL NO. 08-20 ORDINANCE NO. 080825 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE GENERAL LEVY AND IMPOSITION OF ANNUAL TAX FOR GENERAL MUNICIPAL PURPOSES FOR THE YEAR OF 2008 AND FOR IMPOSITION OF ANNUAL TAX FOR PARKS. First reading by City Clerk, Kathy Blakemore. Motion made by Aldermen Cosby with second by Aldermen Simpson to approve the first reading.
