Quick overview of winter activities:
• Holiday ‘Décor 2023 installations in the gardens
• Iron sculptural trellis installations in Mural Garden completed
• New Tree planted by Village in 1812 (0n 2/6/24)
Some Proposed Projects for 2024:
• Small public informational coroplast signs to be designed and printed, placed at each garden identifying each garden as a project of
the Village Beautification Committee
• Continue plant ID program in gardens
• Research Seed Library project idea
• Public engagement project TBD
• Continuation of regular “one-hour flash mob” garden attacks for weeding/watering throughout the season.
QUICKIE GARDEN REPORTS - Captains' reports; garden needs and deeds and dreams
• Heritage Garden of 1812 – Melissa and Lori (5 minutes)
• Pocket Park Mural Garden – Deb and Dian (5 minutes)
• Memory Garden – Myra (5 minutes)
BEAUTIFICATION REQUESTS FOR DPW: (In addition to BLACK MULCH ON ALL 3 GARDENS)
• Pocket Park Touch-up/Re-paint the iron patio tables and chairs.
• Build a wooden trellis for existing climbing hydrangea and other climber against library west-facing wall and repositioning the climbing
hydrangea away from the brick wall by about a foot.
• Removal of forsythias and 2 rose of Sharon and large butterfly bush in front of mural wall plaque
• Relocation of roses from the west side bed to the east side bed between the library’s community room windows
• Possibly add a concrete bench near the Steeple Bell Trellis in the “Zen” Garden Bed to complete the “Zen” contemplative theme of that
bed.
Heritage Garden of 1812 (at Main and Evans)
• Besides regular mulching of garden beds, add a THICK Layer of mulch on entire perimeter and north point from basin north for
suppression of weeds and safety of walking by volunteer gardeners.
• Installation of 2 DPW built park benches on either side of the inner stone dust garden pathway and if she is available, have them
painted by the same artist who painted the benches in florals in Glen Park last year.
• Fill in the quarry stone basin with planting soil to create a raised bed for perennials so we can remove the barrel planters

Mission Statement - 2024
The Beautification Committee is a group of volunteers appointed by the Village of Williamsville whose mission is to beautify
several of the Village’s public gardens. The committee designs, plants and maintains each garden in a welcoming, pollinator-
friendly, historical, educational, cultural, and artistic environment that nurtures and highlights community pride. Working as a
flexible team, the committee shares garden ideas and knowledge with the community and each other while enjoying the
outdoors, forging friendships, and improving the aesthetics of the village’s public greenspaces.
