Deputy Mayor Thomas Renner: Downtown Winooski is holding “Blingo” tomorrow (6/4/24) at Onion City Chicken and Oyster at 6:00 pm. Deputy Mayor Renner, along with Councilor Oakleaf, met with a group of individuals from Pakistan who were either in the Transgender community or in groups who help support Transgender individuals and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Deputy Mayor Renner said they had the opportunity to learn a lot from this group and it was a great experience. Councilor Charles Judge: The Winooski Housing Commission Meeting was rescheduled from last Tuesday to tomorrow June 4th, at 6:00 pm here at Winooski City Hall. Councilor Aurora Hurd: Next week on June 13th will be the meeting for the Inclusion and Belonging Commission. The commission is looking for new members. To learn more about each opportunity, and to apply, visit the news updates section of winooskivt.gov Winooski Together: Equity Action Community Meeting The City of Winooski and Winooski School District have partnered with the Creative Discourse Group (previously partnered with for the 2019 Equity Summit) to stand up an Equity Action Committee, charged with creating a special community event that addresses the findings of the City/School Equity Audit. This committee includes members of the Winooski School District Antiracism Steering Committee, the City’s Inclusion and  City of Winooski 27 West Allen Street Winooski Vermont 05404 Vermont’s Opportunity City 802 655 6410 winooskivt.gov Belonging Commission, the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission Equity Advisory Committee, and community leaders. The Equity Action Committee invites everyone to join us for Winooski Together: Equity Action Community Meeting on Saturday, June 22, 2024 – 12 PM at the O’Brien Community Center. This celebration will include food, music, activities, facilitated work groups, and an award ceremony to recognize changemakers in the community. Discussion: Introduction of Amendments to Unified Land Use and Development Regulations - Act 47 Updates – Eric Vorwald, Director of City Planning Minutes: Eric Vorwald, Director of City Planning presented an overview of the amendments being made to the Unified Land Use and Development Regulations. With the passage of Act 47 in 2023, the State of Vermont created specific zoning requirements for all municipalities that have public water and wastewater. The City has been working to manage statutory requirements and local regulations while amendments were prepared by the Planning Commission. Along with the requirements for Act 47, the Planning Commission reviewed other changes to the Unified Land Use and Development Regulations. Many of these changes were presented to provide clarity and consistency. A more detailed discussion is anticipated for the June 17th City Council meeting, including the scheduling of a public hearing. Questions ensued from Council and the Public regarding specific items. Lucas Pelletier made a public comment about potential uses for the old National Guard post on Lafountain Street and potential environmental implications of the demolition. Amy Houghton made a public comment about her concerns regarding the preservation of trees on private property. Discussion ensued. B. Discussion/Approval: Grant Acceptance – Fiscal Agent Better Places Grant – Angela Aldieri, Finance Director Minutes: Downtown Winooski is seeking the City of Winooski to act as Fiscal Agent to receive the Better Places Grant award. Downtown Winooski, due to unforeseen circumstances, is ineligible to receive the grant. The City of Winooski, acting as Fiscal Agent, would receive the funds on behalf of Downtown Winooski. Winooski will use the funding to revitalize Rotary Park to create a space promoting health, well-being, and happiness. Motion: A motion was made by Councilor Hurd, seconded by Councilor Judge.
