Discussion: Commission Purpose In response to a request by the FC for more clarity about our role, Mayor Kristine Lott and Jesse Baker discussed the usual workflow of items tasked to the commissions. The Mayor and Council determine which economic initiatives and policies will be given priority and sent to the community experts on the FC to advise. The council will likely not start working on the TIF funds until 2021 so that discussion will be tabled for the time being. In the meantime, the FC will delve into discussing the Economic Vitality Section of the Master Plan. V. Discussion: Master Plan – Economic Vitality Review The FC began to review and discuss the 9 goals/objectives laid out in Economic Vitality Section of the Master Plan. Mayor Kristine Lott and Jesse Baker provided examples of how the city is working to achieve each goal. Mayor Lott asked the FC some questions to help evaluate the progress being made towards the current goals, what the priorities should be in the near future and what tools we needed to continue this discussion. The FC agreed progress is being made, Winooski should continue to focus on remaining financially sustainable and affordable and the FC should continue to deepen our understanding of the financial circumstances of the City in order to help evaluate goals 1-5 of the Economic Vitality Section of the Master Plan.
