Call to order: 5:03 P.M.
Roll Call: Ingrid Campos, Vicki Coe (Mitchell), Kit Colman (Co-Chair), Elizabeth Fergason
(minutes), Bev Iverson, Thomas Johnson (Co-Chair), Lisa Keith, Suzie Larwood, Corinne
Ruokangas, Hank Upton (Zoom), Melissa Cardinale (Town liaison), and Kevin Bryant (Town
Manager)
Public Attendee: Karen Peterson
New Business:
1. Future of Woodside Arts and Culture Committee
Town Manager Kevin Bryant discussed reasons why the committee is being reviewed for
termination. Mentioned were: 1. Post-pandemic environment. 2. Five to fifty-year look at
future of Woodside. 3. Non-rotation of Chair position. 4. email list ownership. 5.
Committee membership appointment. 6. Freedom from Town oversight. 7. Brown Act.
Perplexed committee members raised concerns and asked questions all while expressing
dismay at being cancelled.
Excerpts from discussion:
Bev Iverson: How can we work with the town to improve relationship?
Ingrid Campos: Is there a fiscal issue?
Kit Colman: What is the town's long-term vison?
Vickie Coe: The Brown Act hasn't affected the committee's ability to do a good job.
Susie Larwood: Since January, 496 volunteer hours have been logged by committee
members.
Corinne Ruokangas: Committee has accumulated 5000 views on its YouTube channel.
Elizabeth Fergason: Are all the town committees being reviewed for termination?
A town council study session is scheduled for June 25th. A recommendation will be
made for the termination or continuance of the Arts and Culture Committee. Following
the study session, the Town Council will hold a vote.
