Dear Chief Corn.
The Oklahoma City Police Department is requesting mutual assistance from your agency for a potenlial
victory celebration. should the OKC Thunder win the NBA Finals. lfthe event occurs, it will be held in
Oklahoma City, but the exact date and time have not been set at this time. we will provide that
information as soon as oossible.
In the event ofan OKC Thunder victory, we anticipate the resulting celebration would be a large-scale
event for which OKC would need additional law enforcement resources to ensure the saf'ety and security
ofthose attending. In preparation lor this, we are requesting that you commit to providing members ofthe
Metro Emergency Response Team to assist for the duration ofthe event.
As you are aware, requests for mutual assistance are govemed by Title I I O.S. I 34-103 which provides
that where such duties are performed, your officers shall have the same powers and duties as though
employed by OKC; except that salaries, insurance and other benefits shall be provided in their regular
manner by your municipality. The statute further requires approval by your governing body to provide
such mutual assistance.
We greatly appreciate your consideration in helping to ensure a safe experience for everyone. We are
unable to provide reimbursement for your agency's personnel costs, so we fully understand if you are not
able to assist due to budgetary constraints.
lfyou are able to provide resources to assist with the event, please contact Deputy Chief Brian Jennings at
brian. ienninqs.irl okc.qov no later than Friday, June 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Please confirm in your
response that you have the approval ofyour governing body to provide mutual assistance. Once we
receive your response. we will anange for Capt. Aaron Busch (tactical resources POC) or Capt. Audrea
Ceorge (ERT POC) to reach out to you to coordinate.
Sincerely.
