Mabel C, Fry Library Board lvfinutes of theNovember 23"2019 Meeting lvlembers Attending: tvlary Moore, Lee'Wells, Margarete Albrecht, Jacie Doyie and Sue Kilmer and LibrarianSara Schieman President Albrecht called the meeting to order. The first order of business was to request someone to take minutes. Sue Kilmer volnnteered to take minutes again if the group allow her to be considered this year's secretary tbr the board { as she took them for the last meeting as weli}" A vote was taken and it passed. Librarian Sara Schiemarfenorted the federai peaetentiary staffis required to shadow a librian for a day They had been to our library recently so this requirement could be compieted. ShawnaDeeds and Sara had visited the Rotary Club meeting and reported on the Oklahoma Library Consortium. Following this discussion, Schieman distributed lilbrar,v statistic sheets showing the past quarters's statistics. As we discussed the ever--increasing numbers, she rerninded us that students who are cansidered homeschooled and/or enrolled in the Epic program use our resources ( both printed and online). They often meet their instructors at the library and thus the tables and chairs are full much r¡f the time. The 2AI9-2t2t City budget aiiowed for Sara to hire an additional part-time persûn. She is assisting Stopiranie wilh Children's Proglamming. They not oniy do inhouse prûgfams to youngsters, but also to several daycares in our community. 735 children registered in the recently complete$Srunmer Reading Proglams the library offered. 2A4 affenóed the "End of the Year" Pool Party. The iibrary received 512,322.78 from Canandian County. This will probably be the iast year these monies are received. They had been some controversy aired b-v same of the surrounding cities in Canadian County. The fi¡nding. ûne of the communities felt if they were the only community building and paid bond money that year, they shouid be the oniy city receiving rncney. Libra¡ian Schieman reported she has found using tlte collectioû âgency beneficiai. She finds peopie ât€ more diligeat about making the effort to return their materials and pay our library fine rather than having a debt collecter taking the required action fcr unpaid debts. Evenf though the amount of o'Late"'bocks totalied overdue fines received f,rom retumed $3û0, the value of the materials retumed was estimated tei be $41,û00. Sara has worked with the architect *n pians for the new building. No word has been received if action is being taken triw-ard setting thase pians in ptrace.
