Librarian’s Report 10/20/21 COVID update: Due to difficulties with monitoring social distancing, in September moved to recommending, not requiring social distancing in the library. Library meeting rooms reopened at half capacity 9/27. Staff: Staff Changes – Tiffany Wood – resigned Temp. PT circ clerk 9/13 – can rehire, interviews begin soon July 21, Sara hosted the new librarian at the Federal Correctional Facility in El Reno for required 6 hour training with MLIS degreed librarian, donated aprox. 20 boxes of books OLA annual conference 7/26-28, 1 (Sara) attended, moderated and panelist of FOLIO program- recruiting younger volunteers, board members and Friends members Public Library Certification classes: Bridget and Courtney attended “How to Think Like a Librarian 9/28 & 30 via Zoom Programs and Activities: Decisions about any participants on-site will be made on a program by program basis and will be influenced by the State’s COVID case numbers. Summer programs were offered virtually, fall programming hybrid – small, socially distanced in- person programs with a virtual option. 8/2 Pool Party for all children and teens that met the summer goal of 1,000 points for reading, program attendance, etc. No regular programs in August to plan for fall a. Children’s programs: 1. Baby Story Fun – newborn to not yet 3. Summer, Wednesdays June 2-July 28 At 10am – Fall/Early winter, newborn to 18 months Wednesdays Sept.8 – Dec. 8 at 10am 2. Toddler Story Fun –19 months to not yet 3, Fall/Early winter, Wednesdays Sept. 8 – Dec. 8 at 10:40am 3. Preschool Story time ages 3-not yet attending K - summer Wednesdays June 2-July 28 at 10:30am, Fall/Early winter, Wednesdays Sept. 8 – Dec. 8 at 11:30 am – no on-site craft, take home kits available 4. Elementary age programs – Children’s Summer Reading – Tails and Tales – June 1 – July 31 Programs every Tuesday at 2:00pm- virtual or limited live – Participation in the children’s program can be recorded in the ReadSquared app or on a paper reading log. o 7/6 – Oklahoma Aquarium presented 2 programs geared to different age groups; “Turtle Time” for children going into graded 1-3, which  compared and contrasted the different types of turtles, examined their habitats, diet, and adaptations and “Into the Ecozone” for grades 4 and 5 which taught participants about ocean habitats and the animals that live there. o 7/13 – Dr. Andrine Shufran from the OSU Extnstion Insect Adventure petting zoo shared a variety of interesting insects via Zoom. • 7/20 – Extreme Animals shared a number of fascinating animals, as well as information on their habits and conversation efforts • 7/27 – “Show and Tail” – This virtual pet parade gave summer readers the opportunity to share photos and videos of their pets. • Wild Readers Book Club, grades 3-5, July 28 via Zoom, read & discussed “A Wolf Called Wander.” Book provided by library 5. 9/15 – Pipe-cleaner PALOOZA – take home craft program 6. Upper Elementary Book Club – grades 3-5, Zoom 9/28 and in-person 9/29, Discussion of “Ban This book” – books supplied by the library 7. Outreach programs- No Outreach at this time b. Young Adult Programs: grades 6-12 1. Young Adult Summer Reading – June 1 – July 31 “Tails and Tales” Programs every Thursday at 2:00pm- virtual - Participation in the YA program Can be recorded in the ReadSquared app or on a paper reading log • 7/1- “Intro to Printmaking” create prints with library provided supplies o 7/8 – “Animal Origami” with supplies provided by the library • 7/15 – “Animal Crossing”; with library provided supplies, participants made crafts based on the game “Animal Crossing” • 7/22 - “Redwall Read-Along” book discussion • 7/29 - “Animal Trivia” a live trivia game testing animal knowledge 2. 9/16 “Anime and Boba” – 2 in-person sessions, create bubble tea and learn About library’s Anime collection 3. Tweens: grades 4-7 - No tween programs summer/fall 4. Outreach: Programs monthly at CCCJC - Booktalks only, no Cubelets for now  c. Adult Programs: 1. Monthly Programs: None in July and August 2. Adult Fall Reading- Tales and Tales, September 1-October 7, hybrid format With limited in-person ticked and streamed on Facebook Live with recording Later on Niche Academy. Programs every Tuesday at 7pm. Participants won Prizes by logging minutes on READSquared app 9/7 – “Outlaw Tales” – early history of OSBI, Dee Cordry, author and historian 9/14 – “Chicken Tales” – Kyle Worthington, CC OSU Extension- beginners Guide to backyard chickens 9/21 - “Author Tales” – Mustang author, Regina Jennings, discussed latest Book and history (of Pinkertons) that inspired it 9/28 – “Wild Tales” – Kristy Wicker gave behind scenes tour of WildCare (vis Zoom) and info on what they do 2. Page Turners book club meets the second Saturday of each month – April and May Zoom, June in-person 3. Outreach: book deliveries to homebound patrons and Residences at Yukon Hills Fundraising/Budget: a. Friends of the Library book sales – July 17, August 7 & 21, and 9/18, met 7/17 – donated $2,700 from book sales b. Received $25,200 from Canadian County Educational Facilities authority c. Ladies Library Club resumed meetings September at West Point Christian Church d. Applied for ARPA grant from ODL – RFID technology, desk and touchscreen monitor for self-check station, gallons of hand sanitizer for pump station - $14,592 Other: Sponsored Freedom Fest Children’s Parade 7/3.
