Yukon Park Board Minutes Regular Meeting Wednesday , October 20 , 2021 6:00 P.M. Huckaba Building 532 W. Main The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Wednesday October 20, 2021, 6:00 p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK. Roll Call : (Present) Joe Edwards Joe Baumann Stephen Nelson Absent: Cathy Wright, Jason Hammett Others Present: Jason Beal, Shelli Selby, Andrea Griffin, April Taylor, Riley DeLong, Casey Barnett, Nick Rice Item 1: Approval of the minutes Wednesday, August 18, 2021 Stephen Nelson moved to approve the minutes from August 18, 2021. Joe Baumann seconded the motion. The vote: Ayes: Baumann, Nelson, Edwards Nays: None The Vote 3-0 Motion Carried Item 2: Introductions and reports from staff Assistant to the City Manager, Mr. Jason Beal, stated he is serving as interim Park & Recreation Director at this time. Jan Scott is no longer with the City and Quincy Rinkle has been moved to a different department. Jason introduced April Taylor , 13 years with the City and new supervisor of Jackie Cooper Gym to speak about her facility. Her full time and part time staff over see programs such as indoor t-ball, pickle ball and various homeschool groups. Casey Barnett , 16 years years with the City, Supervisor of Dale Robertson Center, has one of the busiest senior centers in the metro area, offering hot meals, numerous programs 5 days a week. Riley DeLong , 2.5 years with the City, is supervisor of Yukon Community Center, where numerous programs for all ages from cooking, fly fishing, seasonal kids camps and Bunco are offered, along with TLC (pre-school). Nick Rice , 2 years with the City, is over our various Special Events offered throughout the year. Item 3: Fall Programs /Events Some of the upcoming Special Events discussed were, Movie at the Coop at JCG, Mummy & Son Masquerade also at JCG, Spooky Senior Social at DRC, Spooksville at P. O. Box 850500 Yukon, OK 73085 T: 405.350.8937 F: 405.350.7677 www.cityofyukonok.gov  YCC, Patriot Project we partner with Southwest Covenant Schools to improve City, Chisholm Trail, Taylor Parks and Freedom Trail Playground and Pumpkin Harvest Craft Festival that will be at our new location of JCG. Item 4: Discussion of park and facility improvements Jason summarized just some of the “catch up” maintenance that has already taken place and will continue in each of our facilities to make up for the years of neglect. Item 5: Freedom Trail new playground /splashpad project $1.2 million project was unanimously approved by City Council. The original Freedom Trail design group and Park Board will have input in project. Item 6: New Business Discussion of parking area at Ranchwood Park. Item 7: Open Discussion Joe Baumann stated he is overwhelmed with joy for the wonderful changes that are already taking place , finally moving forward with new ideas. Stephen Nelson enjoyed all the positive feedback from employees, appreciate hard work from all and looking forward to new ideas. Joe Edwards looking forward to being a costume judge at our annual Spookville. He would like to continue Park Board park inspections.
