Yukon Park Board Minutes Regular Meeting Wednesday , September 16 , 2020 6:00 P.M. Huckaba Building 532 W. Main The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Wednesday, September 16, at 6:00 p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK. Roll Call: (Present) Joe Edwards, Chairman Stephen Nelson Cathy Wright Jason Hammett Absent: Joe Baumann Others Present: Jan Scott, Andrea Griffin Item 1: Approval of the minutes for August 19, 2020 Stephen Nelson moved to approve the minutes from August 19, 2020. Jason Hammett seconded the motion. The vote: Ayes: Edwards, Nelson, Wright and Hammett Nays: None The Vote: 4-0 Motion Carried Item 2: Approval of recommendation to refurbish City Park Tennis Courts and Kimbell Park Tennis courts Cathy Wright made the motion and Jason Hammett seconded the motion that the Yukon Park Board recommends the Yukon City Council approve refurbishing the City Park Tennis Courts and Kimbell Tennis Courts. The quote of these two projects is: City Park - $38,700. and Kimbell is $19,610 making a total of $58,310. The Vote: Ayes: Edwards, Nelson, Wright and Hammett Nays: None The Vote: 4-0 Motion Carried Item 3: Taylor Park Soccer Field Parking Lot Possibility P. O. Box 850500 Yukon, OK 73085 T: 405.350.8937 F: 405.350.7677 www.cityofyukonok.gov Stephen Nelson moved to discuss paving the soccer fields’s parking lot, similar to the Spirit League baseball field/football field parking lot at Tylor Park. Jason Hammett seconded the motion. The Vote: Ayes: Edwards, Nelson, Wright and Hammett Nays: 0 The Vote: 4-0 Item 4: Redo Splash Pad from recirculation to run off There was discussion of this type of change to the splashpad. Item 5: Sports Leagues Updates Flag football will be played at Yukon Community Center instead of Sunrise Park this year. Item 6: Fall events and program reports Senior Games will be at various locations depending on sport on Sept. 21-26th. Bike to Work is Saturday, Sept 26th, to encourage families to discover the new bike trail. Cruise-In for a Cause – to benefit various Yukon Charities, is Sept. 17, and is sponsored by Yukon Main Street Chisholm Trail Festival 30th Anniversary at Mollie Spencer Farm is October 10th. Fall Break Camp Oct. 15 & 16th at YCC. Iron Thistle at Mollie Spencer Farm is October 16th. Annual Triple Treat starting October 24th, will be at all three facilities. The annual partnership with Southwest Covenant School’s Patriot Project is Nov. 6th. Pumpkin Harvest Craft Show, Nov 7th Dale Robertson Center. Mayor’s Christmas Party is Dec. 5th, Dale Robertson Center. Christmas in the Park opens November 21st. Item 5: Staff Reports We have been fully staffed, but we lost staff member Tim Thomsen to the OKC Parks and Recreation Dept. Item 6: New Business Joe Edwards would like to see the walking trails cleaned up. He mentioned dirt/mud on the sidewalks along with sidewalks need to be edged. Item 7: Open Discussion Cathy Wright said sorry to hear about Mr. Crosby retiring in January. She thanked the staff for hard work during these Covid times. Stephen Nelson stated the staff is doing a great job during these challenges of Covid. He and his dog walk through City Park and he looks forward to Christmas Lights. Stephen is grateful for what the City does and is looking forward to moving the city forward. Jason Hammett wants to move forward and get through Covid. Joe Edwards is looking forward to Fall and the holidays. P. O. This memo would include (1) Purchasing an adequate surge protector for the Sunrise Splash pad, (2) Refurbishing the City and Kimbell Park Tennis Courts and paving the Taylor Park soccer parking lot.
