The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Wednesday, December 16,
2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK.

Present: Jan Scott, Quincy Rinkle, Andrea Griffin
Visitors: Mayor Shelli Selby
Item 1: Approval of minutes for October 21, 2020
Jan Scott stated there was a correction necessary for her statement in the
October minutes. The approved 50/50 grant to refurbish the playground at
Ranchwood Park not Freedom Trail Playground. Stephen Nelson moved to
approve the correction to the minutes from October 21, 2020. Joe Bauman
seconded the motion.
The Vote: Ayes: Edwards, Baumann, Nelson, Hammett and Wright.
Motion Carried
Item 2: Covid effect on events, programs and cancellations
Quincy Rinkle spoke in regards to the hit/miss shutdown of facilities due to
staff quarantine. Spooksville was partially held outside and very successful.
The event offered the annual dog and kid’s costume contest, also families
enjoyed a dance contest, carnival games and haunted house. The Mummy
& Son Masquerade and Spooky Senior Social were cancelled due to major
ice storm. TLC pre-school is on a pay weekly basis. Indoor T-Ball was
cancelled resulting in over 128 refunds. Christmas Camp attendees will be
limited. Jan stated the Free Throw Contest will still be held Monday,
December 28th at 1:00 pm at JCG.
Item 3: Christmas in Yukon
Jan spoke about Christmas in the Park underway with people enjoying the
new displays, train rides and the added attraction of the ice skating rink.
Jason Hammett shared that he and his family enjoyed the lights while it was
snowing and traffic lines were minimal, it was beautiful!

Item 4: Staff Reports/Programs/Personnel
Quincy reported we are almost at 100% in personnel. Our programs are
offering smaller class sizes while everyone wears a mask.
Item 5: Bledsoe Park Reports
Joe Edwards pointed out that all park reports need a deadline each month
to be consistant and sent out before minutes are. Jan stated she’ll need all
reports by Wednesday noon to be mailed out.
Item 6: Park Grant for Ranchwood
Jan discussed Ranchwood’s old playground equipment was cleaned out,
but unable to be used/donated anywhere else. New playground will have a
rubber playing surface instead of wood chips.
Item 7: New Business
Mayor Shelli Selby asked for suggestions for a possible dog park site. The
group discussed pros and cons of various park locations and would like

Jan asked Park Board to closely observe parks while doing reports or while just

Item 8: Open Discussion
Steven Nelson is looking forward to a brighter 2021. Thank you to the hard
working staff making it through the pandemic, layoffs and ice storm.
Cathy Wright thanked Jan for the Park Board gift, looking forward to taking
guests through the Christmas in the Park, thanked staff for hard work and is
looking forward to a new year.
Jason Hammett took his family through Christmas lights last night during snow
fall, enjoyed everything immensely. He appreciates staff’s navigation through
the pandemic, layoffs, ice and snow.
Joe Baumann thanked Jan for the Park Board gift, thanked staff for being
adaptable and will sure miss Sounds of the Season this year.
Joe Edwards said he echoes everything everyone has said. Pat on the back
on the back to staff for having July 3rd & 4th celebrations even though it was
on a smaller scale. Enjoyed Spooksville festivities, which made it all a little bit
more normal.
