The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Wednesday, March 9, 2022,
6:00 p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK.
Roll Call : (Present) Joe Baumann, Vice Chairman – Ward 4
Stephen Nelson, Ward 2
Absent : Joe Edwards, Cathy Wright, Jason Hammett
Others Present: Nash Tabor, Ken Wilkins, Shawn Thompson, Chris Lucas, Ryan
McClure and Andrea Griffin
Quorum was not met with only two board members in attendance.
Director Chris Lucas introduced practicum student Nash Tabor and spoke of his upcoming
rotation to observe staff and programs at Park & Recreation Administration Building, Yukon
Community Center, Jackie Cooper Gym and Dale Robertson Center.
Visitors, Ken Wilkins of Yukon’s Archery Traditions and Shawn Thompson presented ideas to
those attending in regards to possibilities for the land west of soccer fields at Taylor Park, for
a 501-3c, 60 lane range for archery. Ken has spoken with corporations for possible donations
to sponsor part of the costs of fencing, permanent storage etc. They also inquired about the
long term plans for land in the Frisco Road area.
Chris proceeded to give updates on all facilities and programs.
Jackie Cooper Gym has 12 men’s basketball teams and staying open one hour longer to
accommodate. Staff also busy with Homeschool PE, soccer and basketball. Gym curtain has
been installed, patrons and staff pleased. Men’s locker room completed and women’s locker
room about 80% completed.
Yukon Community Center home school busy with photography, art, cooking and woodshop.
Inclement weather and City offices closed, postponed February’s Kids Night Out, but resume
in March. Spring Break Camp is next week offering everything from art, to hiking, bounce
houses, dodge ball and live zoo animals for that hands on experience. TLC going strong.
Morning adult walkers and pickle ball groups continue to grow.
Weight room mirrors have been installed. Still waiting on double door estimates, hopefully
soon will be restriping parking spots.

Dale Robertson Center patrons staying active with their rescheduled talent show, bus trip to
Arcadia’s Round Barn then to the Chicken Shack for lunch, annual upcoming St. Patrick’s
Day lunch.
New venue of Welch Pond for the Trout Fish Out was a success, attracted over 175 kids, 74
trout were caught averaging 15 in., 1.4 lbs. Families enjoyed the annual race around the
pond, raffle and awards for biggest fish and farthest cast.
Taste of Yukon on March 24th at the DRC, with 23 local vendors participating.
Senior Games are April 8 – 14th. Spirit League bowling ended. Youth Baseball postponed
due to weather a couple of times but weather will get better. Rollercoaster of news for both
pools to open, Kimbell was filled and tested, City Splash will be next. Justin Chapman will be
hiring life guards and will be doing job fairs starting at Yukon High School for $11.and up. He
will have a swim team, water aerobics and scuba classes.

Stephen Nelson is pleased with the continued progress, moving forward as a department.
Looking forward to nicer weather.
Joe Baumann was glad to meet Nash. Hopefully both pools and splash pad will be open for
the public to enjoy
