Park Board Yukon Park Board Minutes May 17th at 6 p.m. The Yukon Park Board met in regular session at 6:00pm on Wednesday, May 17th, at the Mary Huckaba Building, 532 West Main St, Yukon, Oklahoma. I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Joe Edwards, Chairman – Ward 1. II. Roll Call ROLL CALL: (Present) Joe Baumann – Vice Chairman Stephen Nelson – Ward 2 OTHERS PRESENT: Ryan McClure, Parks and Recreation Director Bryan Kelley, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Kahlil Garner, Parks and Recreation Office Coordinator III. Visitors/Special Guests/Public Comments Visitor Carrie Sharp stated she felt we are doing a great job in the Parks and Recreation Department. IV. Approval of the minutes from April 19, 2023 The board began by reading the minutes from the April meeting. Joe Baumann moved that they accept the minutes as written, Stephen Nelson seconded. Passed. V. Parks and Recreation Department Report and Project Update 1. Special Events Recently Completed Projects • City Park and Kimbell Park Tennis and Pickleball Courts o City Park – 4 tennis and 4 pickleball courts o Kimbell Park – 2 tennis and 2 pickleball courts o Light projects at both locations will be completed in the next few months • Kimbell Bay rock wall – Installed on Monday • City Splash diving platform – Installed • Added 30 trees throughout the parks – Park Maintenance City of Yukon | P. Box 850500 | Yukon, OK 73085  Park Board Current Projects • Kimbell Park exercise area • Jackie Cooper Gym external wall o Wall repairs and painting o Will be completed in the next couple of weeks if the weather cooperates • Freedom Trail Playground and Splash Pad o Plumbing and sidewalk work being completed currently o Spring 2024 completion – color has been selected for playground and splashpad Upcoming Projects • Dale Robertson Center HVAC system o Bids due on 5/30 2. Special Events • Festival of the Child o 1789 kids attended • Upcoming Events o Community Bike Ride – May 20th ▪ Starting at Taylor Park with BMX expo and safe riding demos o Concerts in the Park – June through August o Friday Fun Days – June through August ▪ Touch a Truck, Turtle Race, Fishing Derby, etc. o Freedom Fest – July 3rd and 4th ▪ Adding cornhole tournament this year 3. Open Discussion - Joe Edwards stated we seem to be busy and asked about the Veterans Dinner. - Stephen Nelson was excited about tennis courts and talked about momentum in Yukon and why we do what we do. - Joe Baumann was excited about ribbon cutting for tennis courts / pickleball. Happy about department advertising for events. VII. Date & time of next meeting: Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Mary Huckaba Building at 532 West Main Street in Yukon.
