THE TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION
THE TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON
APRIL 13TH, 2021 AT THE CENTENNIAL BUILDING IN THE CITY COUNCIL
CONFERENCE ROOM. THE MEETING WAS HELD AT 6:30 PM.

ITEM 1: DISCUSS AND APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MARCH 09, 2021
REGULAR TRAFFIC COMMISSION MEETING
Motion for minutes to be approved:

ITEM 2: VISITORS – Don Boos
ITEM 3: DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION IN REFERENCE TO A
REQUEST FROM THE WESTPORT 66 HOMEOWNERS
ASSOCIATION; PRESIDENT FOR SIGNAGE REGARDING LARGE
VEHICLES ENTERING THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Commissioners held a detailed discussion on the type of
signage, sign language and sign location.
Motion to install 30x30 warning sign to read “No Outlet” to be
installed at entrance of the neighborhood:

The motion passed unanimously.
ITEM 4: DISCUSS ADDITIONAL SIGNAGE ON BOTH SIDES OF YUKON AVE
FROM 9TH TO S HOLLY AVE REGARDING NO PARKING DURING
SCHOOL PICK UPAND DROP OFF TIMES
Mr. Adams – started discussion of signage to be placed on
both sides of the road along Yukon Ave.
Mr. Peters – table until times are verified for drop off and pick
up
Mr. Lee – agreed to table until more information was
provided
Mr. Montgomery - would like someone to observe this area
during Pickup and Drop off times to observe the severity. To
table item 4 until there is more information.
Mr. Downing – stated that school start and end times are
8:25am – 3:25pm. He is in agreement with Mr. Montgomery in
regards to obtaining more information.
Item 5: DICUSS SIGNAGE FOR NO LEFT TURN GOING WESTBOUND ON
NW 10TH ST TURNING LEFT INTO CHARLIES CAR WASH
Mr. Boos, visitor, representing Blue Beacon/Charlies Car Wash,
stated that during the planning process they were
guaranteed full access for left turn into and out of Charlies
Car Wash. Had it not been guaranteed, they would not have
moved forward. Charlies Car wash has 63 Employees and
does over 1Million in revenue. The busy time for the car wash
is 11am to 1pm. On 03-04-2021, 348 cars were counted.

Mr. Montgomery – proposed to correct with 2 left turn lanes
done with striping
Mr. Lee – was in agreement with correcting with 2 left turn
lanes
Motion for no signage to prohibit left turns into Charlies Car
Wash and to restripe adding 2 left turn bays at this location

ITEM 6 DISCUSS ADDING A DEDICATED RIGHT TURN ON S HOLLY AVE
TO NW 10TH ST AND A DEDICATED RIGHT TURN LANE
WESTBOUND NW 10TH ST ON TO S HOLLY AVE
Commissioners held a detailed conversation
Motion for recommendation to Council; to add 2 right turn
bays, one right on S Holly from 10th St., and a right turn bay
from S Holly to NW 10th St.

ITEM 7: Discussion of Traffic Concerns
Mr. Lee – Ranchwood and Yukon Parkway signal light locked
on, Cornwell and Main St. locked on.
Mr. Peters – W Vandament and Frisco Rd has continued
issues. Speed Trailer is broken and has asked for extra patrols.
Mr. Downing – none
Mr. Montgomery – faded signal light Yukon Parkway and
Main St. along with Main St. and 5th St.
Mr. Adams – gave an update on City street projects.
