This Special Worksession/Retreat is an opportunity for the Mayor and City Council, City
Administrator and staff to identify and review goals and priorities for the City. Based on time
limitations, it is possible that not all agenda items will be reviewed and discussed. No action or
vote will be taken at this Special Worksession/Retreat. Any items requiring further discussion,
action or vote will be placed on a future City Council meeting agenda.
CALL TO ORDER
I. SETTING THE STAGE
Debriefing of Day One, welcome additional staff to this portion of the retreat, and ensure
expectations are properly aligned for Day Two.
II. CELEBRATING SUCCESS
Discussions regarding the City's accomplishments in the past year that made City Council
PROUD of the City.
III. TRENDS
City Council and staff will break into smaller groups to discuss trends taking place globally,
nationally, and locally; giving consideration to the following six categories and then share the
trends and how they are impacting the City of Yuma:
• Political
• Environmental
• Social
• Technological
• Economic
• Workforce
IV. STRATEGIC OUTCOMES
Review the Strategic Outcomes and goal statement with the Department Directors and
identify what, if any, adjustments need to be made to the statements that describe success.

V. PRIORITIES AND POSSIBILITIES
City Council will have the opportunity to share their individual priorities, and we will also
share observations staff have about emerging needs that City Council may want to consider
during the priority-setting process.
VI. SHARED PRIORITIES
After identifying potential new initiatives and strategies, City Council will identify what is most
important, and establish priorities for the coming 12 to 24 months.
VII. NEXT STEPS
The Acting City Administrator will share what City Council can expect, and when, as he
works with his team to develop work plans that align with the outcomes.
VIII. CLOSING - A SIX WORD SLAM
City Council will be asked to create a "Six Word Slam" (brief phrase) that crystallizes the
day's experience for them.
