June 25, 2012

Present: President Steve Mundy, Commissioner Tim Haak, Commissioner Mat Carney
Chief of Police: Robert Knox, Captain Doug Gauthier, Captain Jeff Morris, Officer Wayde Knox
Call to Order: President Mundy
Approval of the March 26, 2012 Board of Police Commissioners meeting minutes.
Motion to approve made by Commissioner Tim Haak, Seconded by Commissioner Carney.
Approved by unanimous vote.
Old Business: Chief Knox advised the Board of Police Commissioners on the progress and
conclusion of the Sergeant promotional process and a motion to promote Officer Samuel
Dennemann was made by Commissioner Carney and seconded by Commissioner Haak. Motion
passed by unanimous vote. President Mundy advised Chief Knox to pass on the Commissioners
congratulations to Sergeant Dennemann and a thank you to all the candidates for this position.
New Business:
A. The Zionsville Policies and Procedures (#10, #41 & #42) were discussed and a motion to
adopt the proposed updated policies was made by Commissioner Haak and seconded by
Commissioner Carney. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
B. Discussion of a proposed K-9 unit within the Zionsville Police Department was had and a
motion was made by Commissioner Carney and seconded by Commissioner Haak to
approve the Zionsville Police Department to move ahead with the project. The motion
passed by unanimous vote.
C. Discussion was had on the issuing of an officers sidearm as it pertains to Reserve
Officers. Chief Knox was directed to come up with the guidelines and criteria on the
years of service and how this should proceed, and have it ready for the July, 2012 Town
Council meeting. Motion made by Commissioner Haak and seconded by Commissioner
Carney. Motion passed by unanimous vote.

Meeting adjourned by President Mundy.

Room at the Zionsville Town Hall.
