Town of Zionsville Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners meeting memoranda for November 20, 2017. Present: President Susana Suarez, Vice-President Josh Garrett, Commissioner Bryan Traylor, Chief of Police Robert Knox, Captain Robert Musgrave, Captain Charles White Not present: Commissioner Suzy Nagy, Commissioner Matt Carney Call to Order: President Suarez Approval of minutes: Motion made by V.P. Garrett, Seconded by Commissioner Traylor, motion passed by unanimous vote. Old Business: none New Business: 1. Chief Knox requested that a Conditional Offer of Employment for the position of Police Officer be granted for Peyton Stevenson. Chief Knox explained the hiring process and that Mr. Stevenson had scored very well in all areas of the process. V.P. Garrett made a motion to grant the request and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Traylor. The motion passed by unanimous vote. 2. Chief Knox requested that a “Lateral” hiring process be allowed to be included in future hiring processes by the Zionsville Police Department. Chief Knox explained what could possibly be included in the Lateral process as well. Motion was made by Commissioner Traylor and seconded by V.P. Garrett to allow the Zionsville Police Department to proceed with this endeavor. The motion passed by unanimous vote. 3. Chief Knox explained that the Zionsville Police Department wishes to rework the entire Standard Operating Policies of the Zionsville Police Department. Chief Knox requested the Commissioners approval to contract with “Lexipol” to assist in this endeavor. A motion for approval of this request was made by V.P. Garrett and seconded by Commissioner Traylor. The motion passed by unanimous vote. 4. Chief Knox advised the Commissioners of the recent promotion of Officer Ben “Cody” Martin to the rank of Corporal in the Uniform Services Division. The Commissioners requested we advise Corporal Martin congratulations. 5. Captain White advised the Commissioners of recent drug arrest and Narcan deployments. Adjourn Meeting: Motion made by Commissioner Traylor and Seconded by V.P. Garrett. Motion passed by unanimous vote. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Zionsville Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners is scheduled for December 18, 2017 at 8:30am or immediately following the Zionsville Town Council meeting in room #105 at the Zionsville Town Hall, 1100 West Oak St. Zionsville, Indiana.
