Zionsville Pathways Committee Meeting

Pathways Committee Meeting Minutes December 9, 2013 6:00pm Meeting attendees: Tim Casady Art Small Bill Spitz Jeff Edmundson Matt Dickey Evan Williams Phil Brown Tom Schuler Geoff Brown Paul Watson Walk Friendly Community Art noted plans to submit our first attempt at application for certification to the Walk-Friendly National Organization by this Friday, Dec 13th. Bicycle Friendly Community Bill noted that we’re on track to resubmit our application at the next timeslot in February. We’re improving the areas per the feedback. Phil noted that the requirement for a full time civic coordinator could be met by the current leaders already in place by identifying time/effort they put into the Walk/Bike cause. The certification we suspect we’ll achieve first would be the bronze level. Safe Routes to School Tim noted that he and Jeff met with ZCS (Martha Farley) to look into setting up the initial phases of this program. Having met with a positive response, we’re now looking into several programs to continue on. Extending Rail Trail North Matt noted that Whitestown can get to the west side of the problem area with their resources. Right now, both Matt and Phil are tending toward the south route around the driveway area (easier for us) while Whitestown still wants the north route (less expensive for them). Laurel/Hawthorne Signage Still on track. 96th Street Bridge It’s fairly certain there will be no pathway included in the new bridge design. At this time, we have no immediate priority to setup pathways south from Zionsville to that bridge nor east or west on 96th Street from the bridge. Eagle Creek Pathway Matt noted we’re still stalled trying to workout the details/design of handling a ravine in the Canterbury Stables area. Communication Rep Tom noted that the Town Council now has a communications person on retainer for the purpose of dispersing TC appropriate dealings. Our goal is to funnel information to Tom (or directly to the “retaineree”) to promote pathways through the TC blasts. Next Meetings - The next meeting will: January 27th at 6pm . After that, March 10th.
