Zionsville Pathways Committee Meeting

Pathways Committee Meeting Minutes July 14, 2014 6:00pm Meeting attendees: Mark Gibson Art Small Bill Spitz Lisa Burr Evan Williams Jeff Edmundson Lance Lantz Phil Howard Walk-Friendly Status Art reviewed the status of the subcommittee set up to obtain the Walk Friendly status. He noted quite a few areas that need addressed including: a Comprehensive Complete Streets Plan, Transportation Advisory Board, Full time Coordinator, Connectivity Policy, Trails in our Zoning Regs, and quite a few more. Apparently, our first submission was bounced back and we now have a better understanding of what is being requested for certification. We plan to resubmit at the next available time period that we believe is this December. Bike-Friendly Status Our 2nd submission received an Honorable Mention status…not quite our target of at least Bronze certification. Bill noted that our 3rd submission could be made this coming January/February timeframe. Phil offered to spearhead the 3rd submission activity. Walk to School Day Jeff noted we’re planning a Walk-to-School day this fall. Pathway Priority List Our Pathway Priority List was last updated on 7-9-12. Our goal is to review each potential pathway to assure the proper priority. We made it through the Priority and Future groups and will take on the Longer Term pathways at our next meeting. So far, we moved one Future pathway to the Priority group and one Longer Term to the Future group. Notables Lance noted that the roundabout planned for Ford & Bloor has been pushed into 2015. Phil noted progress on a grant to be used to stabilize the pathway banks along Eagle Creek in Starkey Park Paul gave Art a map of our trails that noted limbs that need trimmed. Art passed the info to Lance Phil gave information about an upcoming Indiana Walk Summit in late August. Hopefully, we’ll have some representation there. Lisa noted an Indy Alliance for Biking & Walking seminar-type being held July 25th-27th. Again, it’s hoped Zionsville will be represented also at this event. Next Meeting - The next meeting will be September 8th at 6pm .
