Zionsville Pathways Committee Meeting

August 12, 2021 Pathways Committee Meeting Minutes Members Present: Quincy Cunningham, Justin Hage, Emily Makinson, Mark McDonald, Craig Melton The meeting was called to order at 6:40. Minutes from previous meeting were approved. 1. Justin recapped Trail lights idea. Suggested pushing out to 2022 as time is running out for a 2021 event. Possible 2021 pilot of TrailLights with a lighted archway at Winterfest. Would help get a better understanding of cost/feasibility/community interest. Mobile LED light tunnel could be reused multiple places. 2. Emily recapped conversation with Mindy Murdock. Mindy is supportive of TrailLights idea. Suggested either Heritage location due to electricity, visibility and not in anyone’s backyards, or Mulberry Park loop. Need for volunteer support on upcoming Tails on the Trails (September), Step into Spring (April), or a potential Campfire or luminary event this fall/winter. Also suggested this committee could do an add-on activity to any of the existing upcoming events which would involve something to do or see on the trails. 3. Craig suggested we need to go through Parks department to be added to Parks budget which would need to be approved by Town Council. Craig supports this. Budget process is already underway for 2022. 4. Other ideas: Lights under Ford Rd/Mulberry intersection tunnel Wine tasting on trail Trail etiquette signage Community access to maps of trails. Connect with Chamber on possible partnership Bike Parade to Grand Opening of Overley-Worman Park 5. Future Guest speakers: Dr. Robison, Superintendent of Schools Mindy Murdock, Director of Recreation Services Wayne DeLong, Director of Planning and Economic Development  Chief Spears 6.
