Present: Greta Sanderson, Amy Lacy, Michal Owens, Pauline Coderre, Dan Bradley, Roger Collins, Ellen Denehy, Kaitlin Watson I. Attendance taken at 8:38 AM II. Approved May minutes after adding Amy Lacy to list of present participants III. Update on initiatives and committee responsibilities a. Outreach- Ellen i. Ellen will make a list of HOA’s and meeting times so that we can have an organized game plan of how and when to send out resources. ii. We discussed having set months/seasons to disseminate information and hold events to build credibility and show the reliability of the committee. Ellen has created a sample timeline, but will work on a rough draft charter for our group. b. Ordinances and preservation: Pauline i. The Recommended Tree List is complete and has been sent to Rachel at DNR. We asked Kaitlin about getting it on the website as a PDF and sending it to the community. We need to discuss with Tim best way to disseminate and if it is fine to do so without officially updating ordinances. ii. We discussed creating timeline for goals to accomplish regarding ordinances and focusing on a few small goals instead to keep focus. iii. Dan and Pauline updated us on the meeting with the Forestry Program conference in June. They will get together and summarize takeaways from the meeting. iv. In the past, PZAZ had yearly events that focused on tree preservation and invited volunteers to help. We discussed the benefits of this. c. Events i. Tree of the Year 1. We have eleven submissions. It is too late to do a last push to the town via social media. 2. Kaitlin will put together a PowerPoint of the submissions so we can vote virtually. 3. Our hope is to choose the top three before the next meeting and ask the community to vote to encourage engagement and gain visibility. ii. Fall Festival 1. Do we want to do the parade or booth or both? We discussed benefits of the visibility of the parade, and benefits of deeper engagement of the booth. We would like to promote ourselves as Zionsville Tree Board, but until our name change is official, we aren’t sure that “PZAZ” is the best way to clearly communicate our mission. 2. Greta will discuss this with Tim and get his advice on the best way to move forward. IV. Adjourned 9:40
